Do you recommend doing multiple sets to complete failure or just one? How many reps should you do before moving up to a higher resistance band?
@DisciplineDave
@DisciplineDave 3 жыл бұрын
Yes multiple sets till failure, well it depends if its a heavy of light day. If its a heavy day if I can do more than 6 I go up, if it's a light day if I can do more than 20 then I go up.
@rockweapon7895
@rockweapon7895 11 ай бұрын
If you go heavy on a standing chest press, how are you able to do that? Going for 5 Reps there is nearly impossible, because you are being forced back towards the door, regardless of how stable your stance is. (Might work if you do it one sided, because your stance is more stable) I prefer to sit on a bench and go heavy from there or lay my chest on a step platform and wrap around the bands under it and attach J Hook handles and go heavy there. Going heavy really changes my workout though.

Hi mate In your opinion what's works for you better free weights or bands ? I'm use to free weights can't seem to get use to the band's think i need to be mor patient & get the technique right🤷‍♂️ Also surely these bands ain't accurate it might say 30lbs but how do you know your pulling the tension of the band to the max tension?
@DisciplineDave
@DisciplineDave 3 жыл бұрын
80% of workouts are bands and cables, yes the accuracy is always off. With bands (also with weights) you need to go off of feel and your mind muscle connection. Stick with bands for a month and your body will adjust

Dave , In my workouts , I use bands And weights . Is it good? , second thing is that I really want to ask about preforming to failure, it will burn more calories because obviously it will make ur heart beat fast but will it affect the muscles as-well because I feel like it will make me preform in the first set more and it becomes less and less each time so are u sure that to failure is good ? Btw I also combine it with weights such as chest press, lateral raise to progress overload and to make my workouts more intense and to maximize muscle growth , it’s been 7 months didn’t skip any day unless if it’s off I train 5 days a week push, pull ,legs
@DisciplineDave
@DisciplineDave 3 жыл бұрын
That’s actually even better that you combine them with weights because the point of resistance bands is to make sure the strength curve increases as you reach maximum contraction. And yes going to failure is always good the more muscle fibers we can tear the more they can recover for growth. I am going to do future videos of combining resistance bands with weights

Hi. Just to be clear, YOU use resistance bands exclusively? You're not just advising those who want to use resistance bands how they can gain mass? If your body is an example of the mass building potential of resistance bands then I'm all in. Thanks.

I use resistance bands/cables 90% of the time. I do use weights for a few leg exercises
@gavinlynas2833

@@DisciplineDave Your chest is well rounded. I tried resistance bands in the past but found chest to be the least satisfying/ hardest to get a good pump. It always felt like my triceps and shoulders were doing 80% of the work. I think having you back flat against something would probably make a huge difference. With a proper bench press you get that nice stretch at the bottom (similar to the muscle building stretch you get in Romanian deadlifts). I just assumed I was probably waisting my time since I was missing what I thought was the most effective part of the 'press' movement but if your chest was built on resistance bands then I was wrong (gladly). By cables do you mean cables attached to weighted machines because that would then mean that together with your legs, overall you use weights more so than bands? Don't mean to be a doubting Thomas but with everyone on the net saying you can't gain mass/ size on resistance bands alone I can't help it, I just like to be sure. I'd like to commit to resistance band training but kinda need that belief that it will work since it takes a lot of time and effort. Thanks.
@DisciplineDave
@DisciplineDave 3 жыл бұрын
I understand what you mean your concern the reason why you were feeling it other areas except for your chest is probably because you lack scapular strength which is your upper back a lot of people don’t have that area develop remember all muscles matters bands will expose your weaknesses in your foundation. of your body everything needs to be worked out in order to get the results you want. When I say cables I’m saying the cable machines they have a weight selectors on them the exact same concept with just more resistant.
@gavinlynas2833
@gavinlynas2833 3 жыл бұрын
So I can build a certain degree of mass using bands but I need to use cables (weights) as well to target those bottom areas resistance bands are too weak in, to get the full muscle development? If that's the case then I may as well just use weights with bands here and there to amp up the intensity at the top of the range, just like everyone else keeps recommending anytime someone mentions the effectiveness of resistance bands.
@DisciplineDave
@DisciplineDave 3 жыл бұрын
No you definitely can and achieve the same resistance depending on the quality of the band and how you’re using them. When I say cables I’m talking about rare occasions when I don’t have my bands and I’m traveling. My recommendation is to do everything, The key is to shock your body with various types of workouts and mind muscle connection. Whatever you plan to do after this conversation just don’t stop. The theme of my channel is to put the “technique in your physique”. So if you’re asking me for the best advice I can give you is technique and great form is everything. I will have future videos showing you techniques with weights that are affective but I do find bands and cables more effective for most exercises.

@DisciplineDave
@DisciplineDave 3 жыл бұрын
Good question, make sure you don’t pull the bands to it’s limit (pass the maximum tension of linear stretch). And don’t use old bands that have been sitting for a long period of time because the lubrication is probably dried out which makes it prone to snapping. But the benefits of face pulls are tremendous for your gains.
