Relaxing Gelli Printing and Doodle Lesson. Join me as I share my fun and easy way to print a beach scene with the Gelli Arts printing plate. After the prints are dry we will learn how to doodle a stack of beach rocks and do some simple shading with the Arrtx Acrylic Paint Markers.

I absolutely loved this lesson! I’m so glad that I got out my gelli plates and Brayers when I cleaned my art room up the other day! I love how these are turning out, they feel so organic and natural! And honestly, some of the brayer rolloff sheets, turned out to be some of the prettiest collage papers I have ever made. I tear sheets out of old books that I buy at Goodwill, I even use recycled tissue paper (I love the wrinkled papers for texture) and I also use stuffing paper from shoes - and paper bags! I do buy from Amazon some very inexpensive rice paper, and it pulls beautiful prints!! You are doodling over the top of these prints has absolutely inspired me to get my butt back in my art room, and work on things like this again! These are absolutely beautiful, Steph! Thanks for sharing your playtime with us, and I look forward to more of these explorations! ❤ And I love the color play with the markers. I bought that same set and I love how you manipulated the paint with smudging!!!! ❤❤❤ Beautiful!!!!

I have jelly pad…. Never used it! Now inspired!! Can you use ink? Or water colors?

Whoohoo! I have heard that you can use acrylic inks and alcohol inks I haven’t tried yet, they are on my list to play with. I’m also planing to play with watercolors too. Have fun and experiment- there’s really no way to ruin a gel plate except with a heat gun too close.

I have testing watercolor paper and canvas on my list! Great minds think alike. Lol! Making abstract painted papers for doodling on is one of the most fun things we can do with these prints!

I honestly use tissue paper (heavy duty) that I recycle and often use shoebox paper (the kind that is stuffed into your new shoes) and even paper bags! I HAVE used watercolor paper so I can embellish it and it works fine. But I also buy very inexpensive rice paper on Amazon (and also deli wrap paper) and they pull beautiful prints!!! I bought a box of Ohuhu plain 5x7 cards with envelopes (feels like card stock) and I pull prints on those for hand made cards. Even a kids doodle pad of paper works beautifully!! You can doodle and embellish any pull as you like but I most often use the paper I make for collages! ❤ Happy creating!!

Does the paint layer make the paper non porous. I love this but would like to see something more realistic as well

Yes acrylic paint makes the paper less porous but the unpainted backside would still react just like paper. I have lots of ideas for new videos. Subscribe and turn in all notifications
