This shows how to make cubes. You can array cuboids and use Random reduce.

Thanks for the tutorial, very helpful. But I was wondering how I could set the size of the cubes being generated

This basically divides the volume what you set at first. You can adjust the group size of cubes so Try using multiplier of 4 or 8 when you set the dimension of original cuboid at first. If you need really exact dimension, you can do Array and use Random Reduce component to have similar effect.

Would there be a way to make something similar within Blender? I'm trying to make a script that accomplishes something like this, but I'm having a difficult time with it. :(

Without script, just use array modifier to have a set of cubes use random select tool to delete some of them.
