You was spitting game in this video ❤️. I decided to pursue 'Digital network exploitation analyst.' I'm going to put 110% into this. I really want to get paid the big bucks. I know you said you shouldn't do it for the money, but after working hard labor. Studying and applying myself mentally for a "boring job at times" isn't so bad lol.

My friend's husband works in IT and said pretty much the same things. He has a lot of experience in different parts of his career, and just like you, was very upfront about things "in the real world". I started with simple questions, told him about what I enjoy and what I loved about my last job, and I realized that a lot of what I do is critical thinking and problem solving. I learned that I was a pretty meticulous, attentive to detail and inventive. I wasn't so intimidated by this career field anymore, and it actually made me want to step into learning about cyber security. I highly recommend just asking someone who is in the field/related field or simply requesting some time to speak to an employer about this type of position. You also get a feel for how your potential boss would be like, too.

Hey thanks for the video, I liked and subbed. I just turned 30 few months ago, currently have a Associates Degree in Visual Arts which I know is untrelated, Comptia A+, just got Sec +, and now working on my Network+. The role as a Printer/copier field technician makes up the majority of my work experience (7 years as one). I moved on from that once I had a change in health which limited my ability to travel/drive. I work as a server test technician now which sounds like a lot to do with IT, but really is just running a script which tests to see if equipment will fail under stress. The job gives me lots of down time to study for certs though, recently got my a+ and Sec+. When you turn 30 you definitely feel older and like you have to get your life somewhat together. 😂 Goals start to feel bit further out of reach everyday. My next step would be to get a degree in Computer Science or Cybersec @ WGU since some of my credits would count towards it and that online university is pretty affordable . Any advice? thanks!

hey mate, I know the feels of turning 30, although now that’s a distant memory for me! Well done on getting the certifications, that’s an awesome accomplishment! And I really love the fact that you have experience under your belt, but please don’t downplay it!! You are getting exposure to things and learning so you need to frame it positively and use it to pivot WGU is an excellent choice, I can’t recommend them enough! pick either cyber or CS, choose the one you love more, if your goal is to work in cyber security then pick cyber security. Your plan is solid, you just need to be patient and things will happen for you. and PS, 30 is VERY young, keep doing the good work my friend

I have a Degree in Computer Engineering and will finish in 2 semesters a Master in Cybersecurity, but I'm worried to never get a job because of the lack of EXP and my age (all job offers I see are asking for Juniors or at least 1 year of EXP). Do you have advice for somebody like me who likes getting broad knowledge of different things instead of deep dive in 1 or 2 areas? Is this a good habit to begin with? Is finding an internship the "best way" to start a career, and also, how much knowledge is "enough" to start working?

WFH seem to be more company dependent than role dependent to be honest. Some companies are more supportive of that, others not so much. My recommendation would be to get as much experience as you can, in whatever specialisation you enjoy the most. Hello, I'm really confused and stuck on what my path should be. Many people on reddit and my mentor as well as other people have told me that a Computer Science degree is more versatile and a preferred option than a Cybersecurity degree. My ultimate goal is wanting to work in the Cybersecurity industry but I want to get more information. Right now I'm stuck between whether I should stay in my current school majoring in computer science or transfer to a nearby school that has a major in cybersecurity and start from there. I’m not familiar with bootcamp that you’re talking about. In general I’m not a fan of bootcamps, there are cheaper and faster ways to learn. Check this video out: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q82Ppdia2Kq5iJc.html

Any advice for 40 yr old construction workers getting a degree in IT? My resume has managerial and supervisory experience, but otherwise a bunch of meat head stuff, trying to break into the tech field before I get my degree, a degree with 0 experience, and being in my 40s almost seems like a 60,000$ nightmare.

Hey mate, your life experience is VERY valuable. In fact we hired someone with experience similar to yours, I talked about in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qat0rNCXv6i5dps.html You can start gaining experience snd learning on your own, this video is focused on cyber security but can be applied broadly: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q82Ppdia2Kq5iJc.html Dont worry about the 60K, you will make than and more in a few yrs time

Hey Nathan I have been in sales for years and even owned my own business briefly. I have started going back to school for an I.t and currently work for a large telecommunications company in sales. I planned on getting an a.a in I.t and then following up with a few certifications. Is an A.A sufficient enough? I don’t want to do a full 4 years

Why do people call me Nathan? which part of the video did I say ‘Nathan’ ? :) The A. A. will be the start of your learning journey and it’s one of the building blocks , you need to work on the rest of the building blocks. Your sales experience is valuable and you can leverage it to land a role, this video will help: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g8mfjZV51L_Voqs.html
