This is one of the methods I use to get a screw out of a knife. Some situations may be too difficult to resolve on your own and may call for you to send the knife in to the manufacturer for repair or replacement. Do this at your own risk as there is a chance of damage or a voided warranty.

EKIM1428 hey Mike I just got a new Skyline and it feels bit sticky,I loosen pivot, bit better but still have to flick wrist. If i polish bronze washer will it make a dif? what do I use to polish?any advice would be great, thanx again

The skyline is a great knife but it will take a little bit of pre loading the flipper to deploy it without a flick. It will also break in over time and get easier to do so. I would give it time to break in before polishing anything.

3 minutes of heat and the nylon washer of the pilar crkt kind of melt a little bit causing blade play and doesn't even loosen up the pivot screw. What a beautiful piece of shit that little knife is.

I have the pilar large and iv used soldering irons, break cleaner.... i dont know what to do and im frustrated. The scale is made out of g10 and it has so much loctite on it that it physically spins on the other side when i try to screw it off

@@WheezyIsHere I use a surgical cutter to completely destroy and remove both nylon washers and that allows the pivot screw head to get more exposed, then grab that screw head with a locking pliers and give it a nice twist. Got lucky and did't broke the screw but have to replace the washers of course. Hope might help.

I got a new spyderco Shaman that had a pivot screw that would not budge. Ended up stripping it with a T8 driver. I was able to get it out by hammering a T10 driver into the screw and finally getting it out. No loctite on it at all. I have no idea why it was so impossibly tight. I was able to get the other pivot screw out with no problem. Having spyderco send me a replacement.

i have a cross threaded grip screw in my WW2 bayonet. I have tried everything i can think of to get this screw out with no luck. I cant apply heat because the original Bakelite handles are so fragile. Any other ideas for getting screw out? I dont want to ruin my $175 bayonet.

Great hint here!! Just in case your still answering questions though, my issue with y Cold Steel Code 4 Tanto is the Pivot is free spinning as I try to remove the Screw - it turns also! So anyone that can tell me how to hold the Pivot, while I try to remove the screw would be most appreciated?? Thanks!

Great video...wish I had known before trying to disassemble my Milwaukee Fast-back knife. All the tiny screws snapped right off in the threaded standoffs in the backstrap rendering the knife useless. Do you know where I might be able to get replacement parts to repair it? Please don't recommend the manufacturer as they HAVE NO PARTS AVAILABLE!!! Thanks

It's a Torx driver. The sizes are specified "t1, t2, t3,...". The bigger the number the larger the tool. The pivot screw in this case is a T10. Don't buy cheap ones as they tend to have a looser fit and are prone to strip the screw head. Find a better brand, wiha, wera, ... I buy German or Japanese tools for small drivers. Nothing from China for sure. Buy US brands if you know their quality is usually good like snap-on go instance. Stay away from harbor freight or husky type tools.

i'm praying someone actually reads this and can help... so, what if one of my handle screws isn't stuck, but instead, it spins freely but still won't come out? even when i take another t6 to hold the screw on the other side steady (so it doesn't spin along with the one i'm trying to get out) - it doesn't matter. this little bastard still spins and spins and spins without ever coming out, and i'm completely stuck. someone please tell me you have an answer... i tried the elastic band method, nope. the only thing i can think of is if they make some kind of Neodymium Magnet wrenches or something that can suck it out somehow... but i have no idea

Try getting something under the edge of the screw so you can pull up on it while you unscrew it, or try holding it upside down, you just need to get the unstripped threads to catch & it should come right out, if that doesn't work they sell broken screw removal drill bits at home depot or lowes for like $3, good luck.
