I just had to get on here to share how truly genuine and sweet this young lady is. I was struggling with the electric cart, to get into the grocery store, and this sweet gem took time from her schedule to assist me into the store. We chatted briefly and she is just as sweet in person as she is in her videos. What an absolute pleasure it was to meet her today. I’ve been following her for quite some time and will continue to do so. Keep up the great and amazing work that you are doing. You are truly an inspiration. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness. It meant so much to me today.

Everyone needs to stop worrying about vegans and protein and shift to if they're getting enough fiber. Lack of fiber for most people is the real concern. My kids pediatrician asks at every visit about constipation bc it's such an issue for young kids right now.

Agreed with this statement. People are eating 120-200 grams of protein per day. There is no way a person in ancient times sustained themselves longterm eating that much protein. It's causing kidney damage longterm and alot of people brought into the marketing of protein shakes etc. I'm not a vegan, but I eat a primarily plant based diet (FRUITS AND VEGETABLES) NOT A VEGAN DIET, and I only eat ABOUT 45 grams of protein per day. Your body doesn't need alot of protein, but instead more fiber and phytonutrient dense foods.

I think it’s especially funny when people who eat meat and are not in a calorie deficit worry about their protein intake, they should worry about much more important things. And regarding vegan diets, unless you’re in a calorie deficit, it should also not be a problem for most people who have balanced meals and don’t just consume candy or fries or something like that. If you workout a lot, especially if you want to build muscle, it might be a good idea to make sure you add some more protein, but most people don’t need to worry about protein. Also, it’s ridiculous to make such a big deal about the diet of other people. If you’re not a vegan, why are you so “concerned” about vegan diets?

If you do resistance training (like weight lifting, calisthenics, etc) and trying to tone up/add muscle, you need to take in 1-1.5g protein per lb of LEAN bodyweight. So for example, if you weigh 145 lbs and 130 of that is fat-free lean mass, you need at least 130-195g protein/day.

Protein is in most things, but this is a great video for people who think they would be lacking in protein. Many people need to be careful of protein overload which can do damage to the body. Also for the turmeric latte or beverage coconut milk is also a great alternative for the fats. The fats are good fats and can help with absorption of the turmeric along with the pepper. Your videos are always enjoyable and I look forward to your content. 😊

Thank you! Dr. Greger recently talked about protein overload which is potentially very harmful when the protein comes from animal sources. I think he mentioned it wasn't harmful when coming from plants.
@bluetinsel7099
@bluetinsel7099 Ай бұрын
@@SweetPotatoSoul Yes, the protein from plants is what the animal use, and that gets converted to animal proteins that people later eat, which is a secondary source and not as good as plant proteins. Most foods have proteins so people thinking they won’t get enough is just not so unless they don’t eat or only eat junk.

I like my pea and rice protein isolate powder with our morning shake purely because of the convenience. I soak three tablespoons of a whole flax/chia mix overnight, then blitz it with 5g of creatine, 30-40g of protein powder abouts, kale, either banana or berries (never together based on some new research), sometimes fermented oats if I know I am not going to be eating big meals and water.

@sandrawiersma2512
@sandrawiersma2512 Ай бұрын
Start with small legumes like lentils or mung beans, and only do it for one meal a day initially. If you're really sensitive, try cooking them from scratch by soaking the raw legumes for 30 minutes or up to overnight, and then discard the soaking water before boiling them until fully cooked. The compounds that make you bloat will leach into the soaking water, and cooking them a bit longer will also help with digestion. If you tolerate that, then you can try to progress to bigger legumes/beans. Some people with IBS-like symptoms might never be able to eat beans in large quantities though, so don't beat yourself up about it if it remains problematic. WFPB is great for many, but certainly not for all. Mock meats are still much healthier than animal flesh.

I'm an omnivore, but I try to eat as many plant-based protein sources as possible. But to be honest, eating so many legumes has always been problematic for me (even when I was a vegetarian). I've gotten used to it and always plan to eat beans as a snack, but honestly I admire that it's so easy for you. I even find it hard to eat so many because they are so filling.
