These two gentlemen provided far greater insight to creative writing than I've seen in one place at one time. Thank you so much for sharing this video. I've wanted to write but had no idea whatever how to start. NOW, i do, and I'm going too. Again, thank you.

Eight mysterious oddball travelers trapped together by a massive snowstorm in a haunted mansion in the middle of Wyoming. Don't disturb me, I'm busy writing my acceptance speech for the Oscars. Signed, Quentin.

Very entertaining guys! This has given me a new outlook on storytelling. My ideas have a new lease of life now. Rather than getting bogged down in and fretting about details for one story I'm constantly searching out and generating ideas for my notebook. Thanks for sharing.

He is referring to "How to write a Story that Rocks" which is posted on this very channel. It's a 12 parter giving you basically the same information as this video. It's just longer and has longer lists.

Finding a good idea is fairly easy. It's quite another thing to turn the idea into a fonished piece of fiction. I come up with plenty of good ideas that I don't have the skill to write successfully. Stephen King talks about this. He got the idea for Under The Dome when he was in high school, but didn't have the skill to write it until he was elderly.

I agree. Ideas aren't the issue. Its structure that is difficult.

Very informative session. Is character creation the first activity in story writing or deciding on the main theme?

I typically start with the world and setting, as that is usually my favorite thing about stories haha. I first create a world, then i populate it....Seems like a logical way to go about it....Of course, this probably wouldn't work for genres t that have little to no focus on the actual world (for example stories that focus on romance or i dunno, crime mistery).

Great Video, I learned alot. lol Oh and I think Larry meant to say Samuel l Jackson Or Morgan Freeman instead of Denzel Washington. Denzel doesn't play side kick roles.

Rikuriku Kallio . For me I thought it was a great exercise. The 2nd guy talking over other speakers with his little side jokes was too much. But it was less just making a point, but more an exercise to grease the gears
