so if I start a movie that has dolby atmos it automatically uses dolby atmos? becaus when I tap on the sub titles logo it only tells "Language (5.1)"

Yep, if the movie has Dolby Atmos and your setup supports it, it should switch to Atmos automatically. But, Netflix sometimes shows "5.1" even for Atmos content. Just make sure your device and Netflix subscription support Atmos. If they do, you're probably getting Atmos even if it says "5.1".

My friend doesn’t have Dolby Atmos!! But in Disney+ it also could be Dolby Atmos!! my HBO Max is doing as well, but I don’t know why isn’t running anymore!!

Ensure your friend's device and sound system support Dolby Atmos. For Netflix, check if the streaming plan includes Ultra HD (needed for Dolby Atmos). Also, verify that the content being watched has a Dolby Atmos audio option. If issues persist, check device settings and update apps to the latest version.

I don’t think the atmos in Netflix is trueHd but rather Dolby digital

You're right. Netflix does use Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC3) for delivering Dolby Atmos sound, not TrueHD. The reason for this is the lower bitrate required, which makes it more streaming-friendly. The quality difference might not be noticeable to most users, especially on regular home setups.

@@scienceofoneI've kinda given up receiving Atmos, I think Netflix and Prime just want to send you DD+ to save on space on their servers. That means the True HD quality files are not even there to stream to you at all.

@@hifiaudios8101 In my experience, dialogue is quietter on compressed formats such as Dolby Digital and Digital Plus. This is probably why there are scence that are very loud and then a different scene may be too quiet to hear the dialogue. Ive tested this with blue rays since they have trueHD. But It may all just be in my head

If you really want that Atmos experience, it might be worth checking if another streaming service offers it for less. Sometimes they have promos or bundles that make it more affordable. Just a thought!
