Question for you…I’m not convinced that they had reasonable articulable suspicion to detain her…if the video presented by the “witnesses” was what provided the RAS that criminal activity may be afoot…the videos were provided _after_ she was detained and therefore the information provided by the videos was not known to the officers at the time she was detained. I could see how that perhaps/maybe RAS could be provided by the tipsters…but I don’t see how the video could provide RAS. Any thoughts?

I saw a video of a black pastor getting arrested for not providing ID, and all he was doing was watering his neighbors flowers while they were gone. Some white bitch called the cops on him. Like what do you want Doug from accounting? A pat on the head for reporting on on the sixty year old schitzophrenic lady walking through the parking lot? Thank god you told me. I was ran off the road by someone my car did a endo (end over end flip) and I suffered a burst fracture to my back. The nurses treated me like a pile of s like you would think I had gotten drunk and killed someone the way the nurses at the hospital treated me when I was paralyzed. I also have two facebook "friends" that are nurses and the way that they talk about their patients I wouldn't talk about a dog like that. So my life experience has shown me that the majority of nurses are a-holes, not worth the skin they are in.

I can tell you are a young person, with little or no experience of culture and life here in the US 50-60 years ago. Ever since the 80s, the standard for when it was legal to involuntarily commit someone was raised to a "danger to themselves or others." Ever since then we are deluged with weirdos and mentally ill people of every kind in cities: try walking on the streets of Seattle, PDX, NYC, etc. They are zoos. We need to swing the pendulum back the other way and get mentally ill people OFF the streets, and get them into hospitals where they can get help. The sidewalks and public areas are not treatment areas they are for rational and sane people to enjoy.

Hey all the constant propaganda saying cop's jobs are dangerous works. In reality being a cop doesn't even hit the top ten most dangerous jobs list. Garbage men, food delivery, and lots of other jobs they look down on are literally more dangerous and deadly. So is roofing, logging, farming, fishing, and many other jobs. Still all the constant news coverage works. Cops can do literally anything and claim officer safety. They've literally shot a toddler before holding an Xbox type game controller and got off citing officer safety.
@douglascounts4634

Any talking about "your safety" or "we want to help you" is for the cop worshippers that may later see the video and will buy into that falsehood. So it is a good CYA practice. Just like yelling "stop resisting" is good CYA for hitting a handcuffed suspect in the face. People that don't want to see any evil in policing then will not see any.

The initial cop is the worst. He didn't observe her commit any infraction... such as walking in traffic. She's a little loopy. But quite aware and rational enough. He performed his welfare check, should make a note, and move on. He absolutely harassed this woman. Then wonders why she became upset. I've dealt with people whose elevator didn't go all the way up. That's not entirely true. She was clearly under the influence or experiencing some kind of psychosis. They were originally called because she was reportedly not just walking down the side of the road, but out into traffic. The reporting parties had video of it which they showed to the cops. Moranto was clearly impatient and kind of a jerk, but the cops were on solid ground up to the moment Moranto went Sheriff Teasle on her. Frankly, I think even the so-called "good" cop should face some kind of discipline for trying to minimize Moranto's actions in his report to the Sergeant.

Instead he kept following her, asking too many times if she needed or wanted help after she clearly stated she did not. I don't feel she is in the wrong. And maybe that's because they have laws to hold police accountable force them to wear bodycams while stripping qualified immunity away. Everywhere else half of these videos get deleted and the situation gets covered up. If all states banned qualified immunity and held police more accountable we would be getting hundreds of new videos everyday.

@@davelind8854 that wasn't a mental health professional. That would have been a nurse, likely an emergency department nurse, trying to go through admissions. I'm not in the US, but worked IT in hospitals for a while and have family that work in mental health - you have to be cleared physically before being admitted to a mental health ward. Also, they were at the hospital to get bloods done and get an evaluation done, to find out if she was under the influence of something or mentally sound/unwell. In all fairness to the nurse, she didn't arrest the lady, she was just trying to do her job. She doesn't deserve to be cussed at and spat on. The officer that made the arrest escalated things at every point. He repeatedly ignored requests to not touch her, he stood over her in an intimidating manner when she was handcuffed unnecessarily close, when it was agitating her and cutting off the communication that they were trying for, he should have left the room earlier. Don't get me wrong, there are people that are bad at their jobs in EVERY job, however, no one should have to put up with being shouted at, spit on, physically assaulted, etc just because they're a nurse.
