You guys delve quick into how to address an issue with drills. Very useful, even if you still have the correct strokes, it's good to emphasize.

Many years ago I had an instructor - not big or tall & kind of skinny - whose main emphasis was to be relaxed when swinging. I remember when we would hit, I was amazed at how much pace his shots had & at the same time he seemed loose & very effortless in his strokes. Thanks for reminding me. Good video.

Ray Jenkins you also have to remember that the wrist lag is not the main source of power. He probably is very strong in the tennis muscles needed to hit a ball.

I like the way you present your instructional material. Keep it up. Many of your tips are presented in an easily understood way. I like your channel and wish you success. Would like several videos on where you contact the ball for the serve and forehand and backhand strokes... how far in front to strike the ball for down the line and cross court. And also how to better hit angles for the ground strokes. Thanks and good luck.

What about the wrist lag on the two handed back? I use to have some swing with the left hand only on the raquette (I'm right handed) but more exercises to develop relaxed swing with the backhand would be nice. Thank you

Thumbs up for Sergey's elegance and flowless play. Part of the reason I am playing cramped up is because I am too late on the ball and I get too stiff with my racket trying not to make a mistake. Statically I am an expert but in real game situation totally different.
@EvokeTennis
@EvokeTennis 5 жыл бұрын
One thing that can help lateness is force yourself to do an extra early unit turn and take back as the ball crosses the net. This will be very early but as a exercise it's great for getting into the habit

Dan, try not to over think and play more intuitive. Make sure to prepare earlier and focus on the most perfect point of contact.

Hi, i have a question, when i had rallies practise with my tennis partner, how do i get consistent forehand to get the ball to the centre of the other court so that he can return easily?? coz sometimes it can be on the right or left side. Example i watch the professional having rallies, and they dont have to run much..
@EvokeTennis
@EvokeTennis 5 жыл бұрын
You have to aim and pick your target to be the center of the court before you take your shot. As the ball comes across the net pick your exact trajectory so you can now move into position. You'd be amazed at how just having a plan or a goal before you hit it helps, then you just have to execute your stroke!

Vacation Tennis Co Thanks for the reply. I agreed, need to aim and my movement too. Coz it seems so easy for the professional players when they having practise and rallies. Thanks again and i will try and practise it 👍

Doesn’t your wrist flop or flip when only holding 2 or 3 fingers??
@twinwankel

I don't quite understand why the three finger grip didn't produce more power than the full grip. I use the three finger grip exclusively because I get more lag and more leverage due to the extension in the contact point. When I do the full grip, I definitely lose power. This is documented from other youtube instructors as well. The other point is that lag can be further enhanced by the weight at the top of the racket.
@EvokeTennis
@EvokeTennis 5 жыл бұрын
I agree you can get more lag and looseness with 3 fingers but lag is only one part of the equation, you'd lose control on the other important aspects of the stroke and do need some stability to get clean contact

You think Federer uses three fingers to return del Po or Nadal’s forehand? You need to play with higher level players then you will soon realized three fingers are not going to cut it.

Clever trick. I have not seen this one yet out there, in great space of internets. Cleverest. But you forget another very important part of what makes the Forehand Stroke have "wrist lag". I will not disclose it here, it cost me too much time, money and pain to finally realise what 99% of "instructors" fail to mention and teach. It is a fail-proof real technique, without which the Forehand Stroke is not possible.
