7:15 actually the "regional" train is exactly the one you were travelling on, despite calling at more stations it still takes the same time (51 minutes from Centrale, 41 from Porta Garibaldi), and it costs the same, and it uses the same trains (ETR245/EA720-EA721). It can be used as a "regional" train only between Milan and Ferno-Lonate Pozzolo (the last station before Malpensa) with cheaper prices, but if you're travelling on that train between Milan and Malpensa, it still costs €13

@@NonstopEurotrip I will racomand you for the future, not to buy a ticket to Malpensa, wich is very expansive compared to the "normal" ticket costs in Italy. Buy to buy instead, a ticket to Ferno, wich is the last station before Malpensa, and a ticket from Ferno to Malpensa via internet (so it will be validated, even if you can't step off the train in order to validate the ticket), you will save ca. 6€ and that's perfectly legal
@marcodamasio
@marcodamasio 2 жыл бұрын
@@lucaspublictransport995 I actually checked, and according to articles 23 and 119 of Trenord's transport conditions, it is not allowed to use two separate tickets for the same train, one using Malpensa fares and one using normal regional fares. The alternatives are: either to have a single Milan-Malpensa ticket, or to have a regional one up to Ferno or Busto, and from there one to Malpensa, but taking the following train. I agree that this is purposefully against the traveller's rights, and in practice is almost impossible for a ticket inspector to verify whether you're using this method, but technically it is not legal.

@@marcodamasioIf you use the Malpensa Express from Milan Central Station that stops in Ferno, no one can dispute anything. At most, get off and get on the same train in Ferno. Of course, to save the €5.00 you need to buy a valid 2nd class ticket for the journey from Milan Central Station to Ferno. Tickets from Ferno to Malpensa airport T1 or T2 are exclusively 1st class (legalized scam).

7:34 It should be mentioned that there are services every 30 min. also between Malpensa and Cadorna, which is much more convenient to reach the city centre, and faster too (37 min. to/from Terminal 1). Combining the two branches, there is a service every 15 min between MI Bovisa and Malpensa.

Great stuff. I lived in Lombardy Region( Pavia) as a student and Milano Centrale was the point of arrival. Forty years later, MC is still what it is, albeit much improved with more services-at that time, there was no service either to Linate or worse to Malpensa. But the front façade and the turn-of -the -century look is stll there and it brought back the memories of the past. Maybe I'illo get to travel to Pavia again from the station.

I want to thank you so much for pointing out the wheelchair-accessible seating. I think it would be amazing if you would make it a point to show the wheelchair-accessible seating,, bathrooms, and any ramps or access onto the train for wheelchairs. Your videos would definitely get a boost in traffic from people with disabilities wanting to know this information. Since you are such a great tour guide I think many people could benefit from specifics around accessibility even into the train stations and surrounding areas. As a person in a wheelchair, one of my biggest challenges is always knowing what transportation is wheelchair accessible from start to finish. Please keep up the good work. More than willing to chat if you ever are interested. Thank you, Javier

No took the malpensa express from centrale in 2004 and could have been 2001.malpensa has a very limited food plaza I recall at that year for a very modern large international airport.i believe air passenger volume decade ago still is a larger number than after and that includes the pandemic restriction years.milan doesn't need two large international airports 24/7 with modern passenger rail always improving ..unless electric powered commercial air is proven safe as jet fuel and less costly and polluting..that's 30 years away at least.

My wife and I took that same train in July of 2019 and it was an adventure. We took the 5:25 am train which meant we had to get up early that morning and walk over a mile with our luggage thru the darkened streets of Milan to the Milano Centrale Station. We practiced the walk the day before so we would know where we were going! Once we got into the station we had very little time to get on the train. The yellow ticket validation box on the left at 2:56 of your video was NOT working! I stood at the door of the passenger car with our luggage while my wife ran back to the main platform to find a box! She got back to the train as I held the door open and the train pulled out less than a minute later! Everything else was fine and it was a nice ride to the airport.

In Centrale Station you can either use the Trenitalia (red) or Trenord (either blue or green) vending machines, Trenord ones are also able to sell return tickets (€20, single way is €13). There are also Trenitalia's and Trenord's ticket offices on the ground floor of the station. They're also available in ATM's (ATM is the company operating local transport in Milan) vending machines, available in every metro station and in many news kiosk (check if there is the Trenord or ATM logo). You can buy tickets in advance, on both Trenitalia and Trenord websites and relative apps, although I suggest you to buy a paper ticket, since it does not expire until you validate it (which you must do before getting on the train), then it's valid for 3 hours, while online tickets don't need to be validated but are only valid for 3 hours from the train you have selected, and you can only change it up to 3 times and only until the day before. Also, buying in advance won't save you money, since the price is always the same. Fun fact: according to Regione Lombardia, the "commercial" distance from Milan (every station) to Malpensa (both terminals) is 49 km, which is ironic because if it was just 1 km more, tickets would have been valid for 6 hours, instead of 3.

@@ninnobroggi Terminals in airports are quite far apart. Rome's Fiumicino airport has big terminals which would take a considerable amount of time to reach from a single point of the airport, I guess Malpensa does too
