Cooking a whole chicken in a solar oven is a fun way to spend an afternoon and is certain to give you incredibly juicy fall-off-the-bone chicken. Solar cooking will leave your chicken tender and juicy with meat that falls delectably off the bones. There is one drawback though.
While a solar cooked chicken is sure to please the taste buds, it might not look the way you expect when done. Because of the slow cooking method, the skin of your chicken won’t brown on its own because it is being cooked in a moist environment, rather than a hot & dry environment (as in a convection oven).
