@Mungpi Mung I don't think it s got anything to do with financial aid as that only covers tuition. Tuition isn t usually the problem as you can get a loan for tuition far more easily than a maintenance loan

Mungpi Mung what she and many others didnt realize is that financial aid packages are negotiable! she could have presented her darthmouth package to the other schools and the other schools may have upped her aid.

Don't stress on test scores or gpa. I ended up getting a 29 on my act and a 3.8 gpa and I got into Cornell. Just make sure you do something that makes you stand out (start a club, become president of an established club), and focus on making a perfect essay that describes your unique perspective on the world.

First off when I was growing up I thought wherever I go to college the more successful I will be. This is also what the school system brainwashed the children into thinking. I’m an orthodontist and I did not go to near a prestigious school. While on the other hand, my best friend went to Harvard. All I have to say is that I am getting paid almost twice as much as him and trust me I DO NOT CARE ABOUT THAT. But don’t let people tell u whatever college u go to determines your success. But, don’t stop chasing ur dream if that is where u truly want to go.

JANEL (Dartmouth) IS OUTSTANDING. I've read a few articles about her. Such a role model. (Also, I was confused where the school is because I figured that some countries (such as the US) have a higher likelihood of getting into Ivies. Turns out this school is from the Philippines. ISM (International School Manila))

After watching this video i'm in a dilemma: (A) Do I dig a hole, jump in it and cry about my worthlessness? (B) Do I work harder to achieve things that will make me proud of myself? Please vote below (LOL) ps. I'm actually graduating in a few months, and starting my masters degreee... but in Italy school isn't nearly as competitive, wich is kind of sad because you aren't pushed to be better or do all these extracurriculum activities.

You should only do extracurriculars if you want to, not cause you’re forced to. If you’re only into academics, that’s perfectly fine.

This is a very interesting video, especially because I'll be a junior so thank you! I did have a question though, would you happen to know conversions from the IB scale to the 4.0 GPA? For example would a 6.67 be about the same as a 3.7 gpa? Thank you !

Hello! I’m so glad to hear that! :) unfortunately there is no clear conversion between the IB and GPA because it depends on the rigor of your curriculum too and that’s difficult to accurately consider when comparing to the IB scale. :( But there are ones online that attempt to if you look up IB scale to 4.0 scale converter! Good luck with college apps!!❤️

Huh, I did the worlds scholars cup a few years back(I’m from Australia), but although we made it to the global rounds, we weren’t able to get the money to attend.

Hii, did you and your friends go to IB diploma program just in 11th and 12th grade or also in Middle Years program in 9th and 10th grade? And does anyone know where to put predicted scores on Common application ? Thanks

Yes just in 11 and 12! I’m not sure if you put predicteds on the Common App actually. It might be your counselor who sends it to the school along with your transcript but I’m not 100% sure.
