The comp system is playable to a certain extent. Sometimes you get comped without even expecting it. I had a good contact with a PB once and the next visit saw I had been credited 2,000 points (worth $40 in food or gasoline). I would expect she did it and that she has a certain amount of points to give away. Looking like someone who can play often and afford it plus has a great attitude (ie generous tipper but good social skills with the other players) will make them want to see you again, because you're bringing value.

It all depends on how you look at it. If I go to Las Vegas for three days and I lose $500, but I get a free room that would have cost me about the same amount of money, was I really a loser? I don't think so! I had some fun and it would have cost me that same amount of money to pay for the room. You just need to be careful that you don't gamble too much and overpay for your comps with big gambling losses! As a smart gambler I am able to avoid doing that and many other gamblers do the same.

It shouldn't matter how fast you play the machines, as long as you are actually playing and not just sitting there to get a free drink. However, you should always be sure to tip the cocktail server because they will be the person to decide if you should continue to get free drinks. I have heard of one trick to get a free drink without actually gambling. Go to the keno lounge and pick up some old keno receipts that you will see sitting around. Then sit in a chair and order a drink.

Shouldn't matter how fast you play the machines? I'm not concerned with free drinks, but I do care about getting comps if I'm putting a decent amount of money on the line(or through the machine in the case of slots). I'm sure you know you can play literally hundreds of spins, maybe even a thousand plus spins per hour on a slot machine. I mean there's no skill involved, you just press the damn button and hope not to lose too much money in the process of maybe getting lucky and hitting something big. But more to my point, I play video poker, probably 700 - 800 hands an hour, conservatively 600. (I'm not sure what the average speed of play is, that is how many hands per hour). So just playing quarters, at max coin that's $1.25 a hand, multiply that by the number of hands per hour, let's just go with 600 to be conservative, 600 x $1.25 = $750. So in just two hours I've put $1,500 through the machine. I cannot remember the exact figures for the payback without the Royal Flush, but let's say negative 2.5% with optimal play, that means my expected loss is 2.5% of $1,500 or $37.50 And that will be significantly higher than someone who only plays even 500 hands per hour. And if I actually play 700 - 800 hands per hour(my training program has clocked me at playing nearly 1,000 hands per hour, I think it was 988) that difference would be even greater. So I would think the speed of play on a slot machine/VP machine absolutely matters, it is fundamental in accurately calculating how much money was gambled by the player.

Thats ok if you play a lot. Today I play only poker and dont get very much from the casino. But before I was a high roller on table games. I got everything free from the casino. International flights for me, my wife and my daughter. Free suites. Limo transport whereever I wanted. Shoppping in the casino shops. Food. Entrees to any Las Vegas show. Pay back if I lost. Anything you know was free. The difference is, before I lost a lot of money, now I win with only poker.

Most table games DO have slots to put the players cards in now a days. Seems like most just send 5-10 bucks a month (excluding some out of the way ones like river boats) with a room once or twice a year (in horrid time periods usually). Thought this might explain how people can get 50-100 bucks in rewards play a month with very few points and betting 25-50 cents in low amounts.

@ 13:45.....I would have to disagree. My theory on gambling is this... the house (Casino) hold the edge on every game that is offered on the casino floor. By virtue of the rules and the pay out they have a clear advantage. Can a player win at a casino? Yes they can but the odds are against them, so for my risk I want something in return. If I'm going to risk my money in a venture that clearly has a casino advantage then I want every comp I can get. A free room, free meals, free play etc. We all try to win money but chances are we won't so I'm playing for the comps, as many as I can get.

The players club would be able to tell you the comps you earned for playing in the casino. If you were gambling at a European casino I assume they would send you offers, either by postal mail, or e-mail. If you were playing at a U.S. casino I doubt they would sne you offers by postal mail.

Does anyone know how closely the casino keeps track of your table play. For example if I sit down to play $100 and have the dealer alert the pitboss I'm putting up $100 of play, is that $100 immediately credited like I had played $100 in a slot machine. If so, couldn't I really play only $50 at black jack, stop playing and cash in the remaining $50 but still be credited with the $100 originally turned in?

2 questions for you guys, if you were to get a players card could you use the same card for machine and table games? The other question is when you get a card is it REQUIRED to give the casino your address?Obviously they need your name. I don’t want to worry about mailers or offers for fear of going to the casino and losing money as a result I’d rather earn and use comps when I’m there already. Just simple ones like small betting coupons or buffet comps
@TheJackpotGents

You would use the same players club card for table games and machines. You usually won't earn cashback for tables game play, only comps. They will require an address, but you can get a PO Box and use that instead of your home address.

Variance is a result of gambling whether you have an edge or not. This is why bankroll management is so important. Some days you lose, some days you win - but over time your edge or lack of edge will be realized. If you play an unbeatable game - you will lose money. If you deceive yourself into thinking you have an edge when you do not - you will lose money. Each casino policy is different. If you are from out of town they will usually give you one year to redeem your points. If you are a local, it could be be shorter. The only way to be sure is to ask at the club or read their printed literature.

I read her books many years ago before heading to Vegas. Well, I reluctantly signed up for a players card specifically to get comps, but despite putting thousands of dollars through their slot machines(I played video poker, probably 700 hands per hour x $1.25 per hand, totaling $875 an hour, for about 5 hours, and I did that in one day) I got virtually nothing. When I went to the desk to see what I could get I came to realize they had information on me, they knew I hit a Royal Flush the previous day. They gave me $5 garden shears, completely worthless to me. It still bothers me to this day. Was I supposed to ask for a meal? I mean $875 x 5 = $4,375, so even at 1% back that would be $43.75, I would think that would cover a simple meal. The fact that I got lucky shouldn't matter.

Video Poker 700 hands isn't enough. Best game for comps is Roulette because it only accounts for house edge which is 5.6%. I play $125 a spin so I get back around $84 in comps per hour so play for 3 1 hour sessions and I usually end up getting the suite comped and some match play.

We have another video titled "Gambling and Taxes" Maybe you should watch that one too? You can avoid giving the casino your name and address when you play, but you will defibitely have to give it to them if you win a payout of $1,200, or more, on any electronic gaming machine. If you don't give it to them, they won't pay you.

If you gamble in a casino you are always expected to lose in the long run. You can have some winning sessions, but ultimately, you will be a long-term loser and your loss is your cost for the "entertainment" you got from gambling. Try tracking your losses and also the benefits you get from the casino in return for your play. That will allow you to see what actual losses you are occurring. If you are not happy with the results, then you might try playing at a different casino that gives you better benefits, and that will help you to lower your overall losses. If that doesn't work for you, then you could try playing less money, or stop playing altogether. If you think you might have a gambling problem we also have a video on that subject that gives some practical advice - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bKqBl7eSu6nZgIE.html and we also have a written article that includes a Gamblers Anonymous 20 question quiz to help determine if you might have a gambling problem: www.americancasinoguide.com/problem-gambling-help.html

Should a professional gambler/advantage player sign up and try to get comps? I would think they wouldn't want the extra scrutiny, and they are there to win money and not comps, but personally I'd take whatever I can get, nobody wins all the time, not even the best players in the world, and a meal comp would save a few bucks potentially affecting the bottom line.

I am afraid you are ignorant about gambling. A person of normal intelligence and memory can have an edge against the house in video poker every day of the week in both Las Vegas and Reno. Google the words -full pay deuces wild- if you doubt it.

True, payback is over slightly over 100%, I believe it's like 100.78% or something like that, but that assumes perfect play, and that means someone has to learn and practice perfect playing. And that is not something that the "average person" of normal intelligence and memory does. The average person goes and throws their money, plays their hunches, and casts their fate to the wind, it's what they call gambling. But that aside, what's more important is that the positive payout is the long-term average and it includes hitting the Royal Flush, something which happens on average only once in every 40,000 hands when playing optimal strategy. And that's only the average, you could go longer without hitting a Royal Flush. If I remember right, I think you need to go through 5 cycles of 40,000 hands to have a 95% chance of hitting a Royal Flush(that means you could lose a lot of money in the process) So the average gambler who is in Vegas for only 2-4 days is not likely to play enough to hit the Royal Flush. I'm not sure, I haven't looked at the numbers in some time, but I believe the Royal Flush accounts for about 2% of the payback or something like that, so in the short term even a 100+ percent payback game will have a negative expectation.

@@mydogskips2 I think I could teach the average college graduate in a single afternoon to play Full Pay Deuces wild machines to an advantage over the house. Not to the full 100.76% but to well over 100.00%. It is NOT that hard at all. People are just too lazy. Any who thinks "smart gambler is an oxymoron" is simply ignorant or an oxymoron without the prefix.

this lady advice is not the greatest......like dont use your card everytime...only use it when you bet big, dont use it if you are only going to play a couple hours, and dont visit the same casino too frequent.....all this will make your Free Play offers that much more.....its all about the avg bet and length of time you gamble.....
