Go to vpfree2(dot)com to see information on the best video poker games offered at that casino. Double Bonus is a volatile game. You need to make sure you have a big enough bankroll to last until you hit some good payoffs. Otherwise, you might get wiped out early. Or, who knows, you could get lucky right away by hitting a big payoff! After all, it is gambling!

I'm slowly coming around to the idea that video poker actually is skill-based. Me at slots is less fun; lots of nervous angst and sudden heavy contact with (Highest Power). The one time I DID hit significantly was aboard Royal Caribbean's "Majesty of the Seas"..... there was a sudden, raucous cacophony of alarms, the floor attendant rushed over asking me "WHAT DID YOU DO TO THIS MACHINE????????" :) :) I was SURE I'd spend the next several days in the ship's brig :) They got me good :) (Edit) Forgot to mention this is a great series...... thanks!

I started---and pretty much ended---my gambling experience at a prominent horse racing track in West Virginia in mid-70's....... I was 16, followed my friend's father's advice on betting on which horse....... JUST placed the bet, was hanging around the betting windows, heard our horse's win, went to cash out and all three of us were nabbed by security for underage gambling :) No significant penalty other than scrutiny the rest of the day. My sister, at age 16, walked up to the slot machine just inside casino doorway in Atlantic City, hit about $1,000 in about 1 minute....... cashed out without any age check........ Early 2000's I was at an average of $300/week scratch n' lose tickets........ 98% of which was on attempts to break even or at least halfway....... of course. Seems like success in gambling is inversely proportional to desperation.

8/5 Bonus poker would be a better game if you could find it. Sometimes, however, that better game isn't offered.

From what I've seen the only places to go are Las Vegas and Henderson, Nevada. I play mainly deuces wild. I like the idea of getting over a 100% payback. Of course it's qualified based on making the best plays with each hand.

I like to play video poker because of the small house edge. Unfortunately, I live in New York and we have VLT's. My understanding is they are just like pull tabs. No skill involved like the RNG's. Is the house advantage much bigger for the VLT's? What's the best way to find out? Thank you and I enjoy all your videos in advice.

Video poker games at New York racetrack casinos are called video gaming machines (VGM's). The VGM’s do not operate like regular video poker machines. Instead, they are similar to scratch-off-type lottery tickets with a pre-determined number of winners. There is no skill involved in those games.

Next week I'm going to Harrah's Casino in Laughlin, and as far as I can remember from my last trip, the video pokers at the bar pay 6/5 on Bonus and 9/6/4 on Double Bonus. I usually play Bonus for the two-pair payoffs to help you stay alive, but I'm really thinking about switching to Double Bonus for the bigger 4-of-a-kind payoffs. Even a 250-credit hit would be enough for me to walk away with. Can you give me any advice on this particular game and its volatility?

Well, I tell you one thing, I'm at a casino right now in Louisiana. Last night on a multi denom the $1 Was paying 9/6, now this morning it's only paying 8/5. Some techs were around so I asked a guy about it. He said the guy that can change it on the floor won't be here till layer today. So how did it change? Remotely that's how! In a control room somewhere else. So if they can control that then they can change when it pays, or make them tighter or looser on a moment's notice. I have felt like whenever I was winning or holding my own, and then it just turned bad. Now I know why. If they check you on camera and see you're a good player, they can pull the plug on you. So on another note, I think this is how the Mandalay Bay was paying Paddock. They can set when you win too.

The video poker games at New York racetrack casinos do not have any skill element. They are more like playing a scratch off lottery game. No matter how you play your hand, the result will be the same. Even if you throw away a winning hand.

Of u only zee the 9/6, nut maybe the 8/5 paus the royal flush more ,for example, I hv see some pay royal flush 250, some pay 500.

wang林戴 That is a great point. You can’t simply look at the full house and flush payouts. The best video poker machines will offer 800 single credit Royal Flush pay and still offer 10/7 or 9/7 for fullhouse to flush

Good luck finding a 9/6 machine. I played a garbage 7/5 machine today and still managed to double my money. Learn the correct strategy for the type of VP you're playing and you'll be fine.

wtchapman You need to look at the paytables on the machines. You can usually find them rather easily on $1 and above machines. They are harder to find on lower denomination machines. You can sometimes find them on quarter games, but very rarely on nickels. The only exception would be locals casinos in Las Vegas, as well as some Reno-area casinos. Those casinos tend to offer very good video poker games.

A video poker machine also has a random number generator, but it only randomly chooses the cards from a 52-card deck (when no jokers are used).

How would you know that each card has equal chance, obviously it can be programmed to give cards that wont match. Poker is skill indeed, but video poker isint same as poker, anyone could make their video poker never give matching cards.

santtuz112 We know that each card has an equal chance of being chosen because that is what the gaming regulations require. This video only applies to class III games played in regulated jurisdictions, which is what you will find in most casinos in the U.S. However, it definitely does not apply at Class II casinos where the video poker games are based on bingo. Nor, does it apply to video poker games found in Washington state or New York race track casinos. All of those games operate differently.

you can talk about all the volatility and 9/6 8/6 payouts you want if the machine is going to hit its going to hit. The machine is not gonna pay a royal flush if there's not enough money lost to pay it. the 98% 99% payout is for the life of the machine not your $100 you stick in. the cards are not a real deck of cards and probability and odds do not apply to video poker. there is 0 skill in video poker. Please do not listen to anyone claiming there is any strategy to playing slot machines it all goes by money in and money out. if you can look to see how much a slot takes in and pays out then you would know what machines are behind in paying and play those.

Dave Gol Sorry, but you have no idea what you are talking about. The video is factually correct and video poker is a game of skill, as well as luck. When playing video poker a skilled player will always do better, in the long run, than someone who simply guesses how to play their hands. Had you done a little bit of research before posting your comment then you would have known that you were wrong. The cards on a video poker machine are just like a "real deck of cards" and they are randomly dealt. If you look up Nevada gaming regulation #14.040 (b) you will see the following: "For gaming devices that are representative of live gambling games, the mathematical probability of a symbol or other element appearing in a game outcome must be equal to the mathematical probability of that symbol or element occurring in the live gambling game."

americancasinoguide you are 100% wrong. if you think you get dealt 10 j q k of spades and the machine doesn't have enough coin in to pay a royal flush you are never going to hit the royal flush.

Dave Gol I just showed you the regulation that requires the machine to give you cards randomly, just as if they were being dealt to you from a freshly shuffled deck. However, you refuse to believe it. The machine doesn't care if you just got five royal flushes in a row. Each hand is an independent event. Nowadays, most machines are ticket-in, ticket-out, which means there are no coins in the machine. Even in the old days, when machines used to pay out in coins, it never mattered how many coins the machine held. If you hit a royal flush the attendant would come over and give you a hand pay.

americancasinoguide i just typed a huge paragraph but i erased it. i could explain why poker machines are considered skill games instead of slots i can explain what coin in and coin out is and i can explain that there really isnt 52 card decks in a video poker machine being shuffled but you will still say the computer doesn't know what cards its giving out it just deals them. so good luck hope people don't put too much weight on this video or the americancasinoguide crap video which the guy doens't know what he is talking about in. good luck to all.

Dave Gol class 2 regulations are for machines that have predetermined outcomes. class 3 is a rng the slots have the same rng mechanism when you cause them to spin. but the payout percentage is still there. If video poker and slots could lose money they wouldn't take up 90% of the casino's gaming space in casino's. slots keno and poker machines in the casinos here generate around 30 million a month ofr each casino not one month has the number been a negative due due to the rng spitting out jackpots and royal flushes. some machines are loose and some are tight this is whats regulated. wheeling island has been fined a million dollars for tightening machines i believe more than one time. so if everything is skill and rng there wouldn't be fines for machines not paying out the percentage its suppose to. like vegas if they advertise the payout for a machine is 99% that machines coin in coin out must show 99% or the casino will be fined.
