3 years ago, I would have thought this is a completely improbable scenario. Then one merry day, I found the hands of a stranger 3 inches from my throat. I still do not know why, as I am an ordinary old man who has offended nobody as far as I know. He attacked from behind and I turned to fight, expecting to lose because he was a great deal younger and stronger. Whatever his reasons, the stranger decided to flee rather than fight a victim who is fighting back. I fear a less decisive response might have cost me my life. Well, we old folks are slower and weaker than we used to be. If you find time to teach us how to compensate for these changes, perhaps millions will benefit. Thank you for your instruction.

A traditional Aikido technique I have seen in that type of attack is sort of a variation on the "Heaven and Earth" throw (I forgot the Japanese term for it) .. Basically, using your left hand you press down on the top of the attacker's right forearm as you use your right hand to press up on the attacker's left forearm from underneath while suddenly pivoting your body to your left. This combination of force and movement causes the attacker to be thrown handily to your left.

love to ya bro.You left out the first part of the technique work work work polish polish polish years worth..I love to look at your videos and adapt it to a loser like me. I am just a 270 lb draft horses ass from a tugboat...5 10...lets see running is out because I am to old and slow. (61), and I am bringing the fight causing the confrontation (me bouncer you out)....LOL I thought in aikido you waited for the "gift". That hand on the neck is the gift, when he gives you this gift you take it and joint lock him to inflict pain with no damage and throw him out of the bar...see ya next saturday night...lol,. I am happy to see the single finger moves gone over and over..when you go to that you eliminate a lot of the physicality aspect..you need to have a lot of talent if you are a 120 pound woman getting choked and you turn loose of that finger, like a sifu do!!! you said it only controls a guy for a second, (you failed to say unless you break that finger, and keep a hold of it).If a woman was being assaulted and used the single finger technique to snap that bone, she can kill him with it if she doesn't turn loose of that finger..he will go into shock and die if she keeps twisting the finger.That aside I thought aikido was special because of the "I am not afraid you, I don't need to hurt you, you are not a threat" philosophy karate can take a life and take a bar in a flash..aikido can save a life and spare a bar forever.

Slightly more useful than the lesson your buddy gave telling people to land their punches on the pinky knuckle. It was more like a lesson in how to give yourself a boxer's break that'll require metal pins and therapy to heal.

Hi friends! I'm following you guys from Argentina!. I like to learn more about arm locks. I get confused because when you have to lock, if you try to turn to the wrong side it doesn't work. And I'm sure in a real situation you don't have time to think about the move... You have to react quickly. Could you please make a video about this? Thanks a lot! See you!🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷

@@mycatsballs8195 Hi! Why do you say that? You say it doesn't work in a real situation?
@mycatsballs8195
@mycatsballs8195 4 жыл бұрын
Damián you can easily counter every move, its a beautiful martial art don’t get me wrong with my ignorant comment but in reality there are a bunch of martial arts that are superior in every way posible, a similar one judo is far more effective, wrestling, BJJ, Boxing, Muy Thai, kick boxing or krav maga. It is true that you have options to not hurt one with aikido but BJJ is far more safer to do a lock or submission, judo you throw one and do a lock while he is full on the floor and emphasizes in taking someone to the ground, wrestling too and it teaches you to keep them in the ground. Those are examples. There is a dangerous mentality that thinks that the problem is the martial artist and not the art. Sadly some arts don’t work. There are a bunch of videos on KZfaq showing that my statement is true. You can search “aikido vs _____” (I’ve done it) in reality BJJ is on top of the food chain or MMA that teaches you about everything. Throw any aikido champion in a cage with GSP, mcgregor, khabib, Tito ortiz or even Yoel Romero and im 100% all of them would maul the aikido guy. The technique and sparring is just not on par.

Great technique; very effective. RE: 1st technique; Why not a knee to the groin instead of a sweep? Picking nits but sometimes a drunk hooligan can take a fall easier than a hard shot to the groin if they are wearing a heavy coat etc which breaks the fall.

I was just wondering does the letters KA at the end of some martial arts just mean student, practitioner, or some one who studies that are like Karate-ka, Judoka, aikido ka, why, how, or when is it used, why don’t others use it like there’s no Taekwondo KA or Taekwondo-Tae, kajukenbo-ka, Tukong-tuk

Yes they do. I suspect that terminology only appears in the Japanese arts though, hence your observation.

Sure, no point in waiting but that "feeling" that something will go south any moment now is a whole other skill that I'd much appreciate some tips on, apart from just the technique. You move when you have decided that it's appropriate and waiting usually means not having assessed the situation properly to make a decision.

Ya, you have 5 or 6 seconds before pass out if they know how to apply a good blood choke, but barely anyone can do that, and straight armed choke from the front just goes on the wind pipe, and you can take that for upwards of a minute (depending on how hysterical you are or aren't). Thus why the stereotypical movie choke out is simply dumb and inefficient. But I get that that's what your average person would do, so thanks for covering it.

You've already been called out on this and are still repeating stuff that can get your students killed. Why do you do that with the second technique? If you're significantly weaker than the attacker, say a typical woman attacked by a typical man, trying to separate and break a finger probably won't work. While you're scrabbling and trying to get a grip and wondering why it's so difficult you're losing consciousness. Also, pain compliance depends on the bad guy being reasonable enough to stop when he feels pain. If he were reasonable he wouldn't be trying to kill you. A choke is deadly force. If the attacker is also bigger and strong than the defender it's serious enough that the Law - even in the UK - would say you can do whatever you need to to stop it including killing the attacker. Giving him an owie and hoping he says "ouch" and stops is a dangerously insufficient response. There are other techniques, even Aiki techniques, which are much more effective and appropriate in this situation.

@toddellner5283
@toddellner5283 4 жыл бұрын
@Naif Gobory Nonsense. There are techniques that are objectively bad and don't work at all. Many dojos teach them. There are techniques which can work with a lot of practice. There are good techniques. And there are techniques which depend on you being bigger, faster, or stronger than the other guy. If what you're doing depends on you already being physically superior they're compensating for bad technique with superior physicality. My students have generally been weaker, smaller, and less experienced with violence than people trying to commit serious felonies against them. That is why I have no patience with the smug assumption that you can make things work through superior physical prowess.

Ya alright. Like the offender is gonna stay and wait for you to do 3 moves... 😂 when I got grabbed by my neck, it was at a super short distance. The only thing that could free me and did free me was a wide swing and blow to the guy head/neck. And even then, it wasn't landed as intended to, because the dynamic in a fight is not STILL. There's no rules to a street fight. There's no honour neither. You do what you need to.
