Fun fact: If you transfer a Necrozma and show it to Peony, he’ll say it looks like the pokémon, but it wasn’t caught in the den. So, you have to catch one through dynamax adventures and not transfer one from pokémon home.

Well, technically, the Totem Pokémon are the real legendaries because Cosmog's evolution line and Necrozma are all Ultra Beasts. You can distinguish ultra Beasts from terrestrial Pokémon by their sound: Every Ultra Beast cry has a 'shimmer' effect at the end of their cry - including Solgaleo and Lunala.

Fun fact, at around the 10 minute mark, the reason why you couldn’t have all four Pokémon close to you and looking at you is because you can only call (whistle) for two Pokémon to pay attention to you at a time! When you call another Pokémon while already having two Pokémon on you, the first Pokémon you whistled will leave.

UPDATE: You don’t have to catch Necrozma. I caught Nihilego, Pheromosa, Xurkitree, Blacephalon and Kartana. Poipole shows up after I caught my 5th Ultra Beast. So that means you just have to catch 5 Ultra Beasts and Poipole will appear. I still don’t have Necrozma though 😞

This is correct. I caught a Cirketree before I even began the Ultrabeast mission. The first UB was Celestia then Necrozma both bugs and Explody Ghost when Poipole popped up. Necrozma has no bearing on getting this pokemon.

The Solgaleo/Lunala you get in sun/moon is Nebby, the cosmog you get in sword/shield is Fwoofy

8:00 FYI: Blacephalon is pronounced "bla-SEF-alon" "Cephalic" is a medical term meaning "relating to the head" as in "macrocephaly" (enlarged head - common in Neurofibromatosis) or "microcephaly" (small head - a congenital symptom presenting in babies with spina bifida).

After watching the video and looking at the theories you listed, I talked my friend about it as I tried getting it, you do not actually need necrozma for it because my friend didnt have it, you just need to catch 5 ultra beasts and poipole will show up

If you go to the vendor at Stow-on-side, he gives you the DNA Splicers, Soul Dew, Lustrous Orb, Reveal Glass, etc. He gives you there item(s) for the legendaries after you catch them.

For me, when I encountered and caught at least 5+ Ultra Beasts Poipole appeared and I interacted with it and the scientist (the one you speak to if you want to have a dynamax adventure) she'll say if you want to keep it

i did the same tests, and you don't need to catch necrozma at all. Just 5 ultra beasts. Hope this saves you time : )

While I was doing dynamax adventures in that Crown Tundra cave, I didn't keep track of the number of ultra beasts I'd captured. I can tell you, though, that Necrozma hadn't even showed up before Poipole did just in front of that electronic chalkboard. So, I was able to get Poipole before I got Necrozma.

Just got my 5th ultra beast during the Necrozma hunt quest and Poipole showed up. So I guess it's just 5 ultra beasts. Love the vids only recently picked up Sword and have been having a blast.

Hey! Just finished watching the video. I looked @ my boxes as I was watching your video and saw I had no Necrozma but did have 4 ultra beasts. So sure enough I went into the den to get what I was looking for. I found and caught a nihilego. Once I caught it the poipole spawned and was right there waiting for me.... So I guess I didn't need necrozma after all!! 😅🤷♂️ True story!!

The 5 ultra beast requirement is 100% true! As I caught my 5th ultra beast (nihielgo being my 5th) I now have poipole (and this can also be done without getting necrozma)

I just want to add that you do not need to catch Necrozma to make Poipole appear. I haven't encountered Necrozma yet, but I've caught 5 ultra beasts and Poipole appeared for me. Hope that this comment can help anyone that thought the video was a bit unclear on the conditions needed to get it. Have a nice day!

Austin, you only have to catch the five different species of Ultra Beasts, you don't have to catch Necrozma. I just figured it out, as I caught five species of Ultra Beasts and Poipole appeared, but I haven't even come across Necrozma yet. It definitely took more than 15 adventures, but as I said, I never finished the fourth Legendary Clue and therefore that method was made null and void. Please, upvote this so that Austin and others can see it!

this was really weird but not only have i not caught necrozma, i also havent even SEEN necrozma in my game but i somehow still managed to see poipole in the same spot. idk if that means you dont need to catch necrozma and just need to catch lots of ultra beasts but i figured this would be useful information for you!

Can confirm: You do NOT need Necrozma to get Poipole, just 5 Ultra Beasts - I got Guzzlord, Xukitree, Pheramosa, Nihilego, and Blacephalon (in that order), and after Blacephalon's battle, Poipole was floating in the Max Lair lobby. I DID get Solgaleo between Xukitree and Pheramosa, but not sure if that plays any role in it.

You know, if you look at Poipole and Naganadel's designs, you realize...like Inkay and Malamar they apparently are upside down when they evolve, for example look at Poipole's head and then Naganadel's bottom.

I can say that you don't need necrozma, I remember it being very weird that all of a sudden I got poipole just showing up out of nowhere. I caught 5 UBs and hadn't caught necrozma yet and I still got it

I'm so glad that poipole shiny locked so this way I wont have to deal with the pain and suffering of soft resetting! Plus I could finally have some use with the my other shiny poipole from US UM

One thing for me.. is when u catch at least 5 ultra beasts with necrozma inside.. or when u already catch at least 3 tapu's... then u will have... poipole appearing near the vital sign board.

I got ultra beast before finishing the story.. Actually, after first reaching the cave at the start of the story that's when I got Necrozma and kartana..

SOOOO I know that ultra beasts are from another world, BUT does that mean that there are trainers there, and would they consider them to be REGULAR Pokemon and Poipole is a starter or something? Or just plain aliens, like Deoxys? I would love for them to explore the lore.

Necrozma technically is NOT an ultra beast... he apparently has the energy and is from another dimension (The same one as Ultra Beast Poipole, which makes NO SENSE, that why he isn't an Ultra Beast) He is just a super powerful Legendary from another dimension... Gen 7 lore is so confusing...
