THANK YOOOUU. OH MY GODDDD If anyone's here for the same thing as I was, you can do it in photoshop too! I'm using CS6, so things MIGHT have changed over the years, but: go to 'file', click Save For Web, look at the menu on the right, set 'Matte' to 'none'. Done!

I'm so frustrated, I did this, and it kind of removed the white outline, but not completely no idea what I'm doing wrong 😮‍💨 I made sure the settings were the same as in the video. I'm just glad my client doesn't care too much. Edit: after a bunch of messing around, keeping these settings shown in the video, got it to work as shown, I have NO idea what I did, don't care anymore, keeping these settings helped over all so thanks kindly now I'm going to not make gifs for awhile lol.

wish i could help further, but this is about as far as my knowledge goes concerning adobe animate. you did set the matte to “none” and not something else, right?

@@howtoavenge1016 I tried going back in and just erasing around it, and now it has a after image in the loop that wasn't there before only appears when saving it as gif 🤣 so my knowledge is just as bad haha. no, I setting it to none but also set it to selective and no dither 0:24 to look like your settings completely because mine weren't set like that originally. 🤔 Edit: update I fixed it, no idea how, not going to question it, went in and erased around each layer removing some of the linework, following your settings still and that did it. still confused about the after that happened, it was showing hidden layers some how even though I hid the frames. Over all, I'd say your stage helped and I'll forget about this commission gif like it never happened lol.

This dosnt work, I imported a gif with a white outline to this program, then I selected the matte option you said and my white outline is still there 👎🏻

doesnt work when you import the gif. If the outline is in an already exported thing, you cant get rid of it by doing this method. this only works for exporting animations out of adobe animate. you’re gonna have to find some other method

I really wish i had an answer, but digging online showed no real solutions. You can try reopening the program and try again, but i cant promise anything.

@@howtoavenge1016 Heya, thanks for the reply! No worries, I found out my adobe actually IS broken lmao. The version I have (2020) is apparently bugged in a few areas, the greyed out matte option being one of them. I read through the changelog of 2021 where this is said to be fixed so I'll be updating to a new version soon!

@@howtoavenge1016 i found another way to do it, i can export each frames one by one and they don't have the white outline, it just takes a bit more time but it works
