For those that want to hunt a shiny frigibax, don't bother looking for the pink strips. It's very hard to look for that tiny thing in blizzards or just a small screen, even with zoom feature. Instead, do what I did. Use an encounter lvl 2 dragon sandwich (potato salad x6, salt x2, pepper x1 and vinegar x1). Then use pokemon lets go method to start knocking out all frigibax indiscriminately. Eventually you will run into one that it will refuse to fight. THAT'S your shiny. Make sure you have autosave off so you can hard save here. Then catch it. Happy shiny hunting!

I just got two shinies in frame on my first picnic reset with this. Thank you for posting! :D EDIT: 3rd with 9 minutes left, Absent minded mark to boot! I had a lot of anxiety about being able to distinguish the shiny from the original but it was very noticeably different. Use the camera and Switch's zoom to get a good view and you'll see the contrast in color pretty easily.

Hey everyone! Count them! Max spawns are 15 at one time, if you ever count them and you count 16, there is a shiny in your presence, they don't count towards the cap of 15 :)

For the zoom function on switch. If you press home again you can lock it so it’s always zoomed. This way you can stay zoomed while playing the game. I.E you can spawn the picnic while still being zoomed

I'm trying for several hours each over a couple of days now in an outbreak. I'm not sure if I'm blind or just extremely unlucky, but they all look the same and I haven't found the Shiny I really want yet 😶 I wonder if I should leave the outbreak and try this... (I don't have the spicy herb yet though) Anyways, thanks for the helpful information!

No Frigibax are spawning for me with the Shiny lvl 3 dragon sandwich, however they do spawn with a lvl 2 encounter sandwich. Any idea why that's happening?

When I did this frigibax did not spawn and when I reset by herbs mystica and meal power were gone

I don't have any of that stuff I can't figure out how to unlock all sandwich ingredients I've obtained all recipes but the ingredients aren't in any of the stores. So all I got is the avocado sandwiches for dragon encounter. Then again my copy of the game is defective too. I failed the league test and it wouldn't let me retake it no matter what I did. I exited and reentered the building and even waited 24 hours so I guess I failed the game. Only thing I could do is reset and try again from the beginning and the games hadn't been added to Pokemon Home yet so I had no way to save all my shinies and whatnot.

Technically you could do but would be better to use a lvl 2 encounter first as to save the herba for when you use the picnic method

Only if it’s an outbreak in that area, to boost shiny rates further. But otherwise no need

@jelliena are shiny chains only available as an outbreak? I have wondered if it actually counts outside of them

@@mattstork2203 unfortunately the chain doesn't work if it's not an outbreak. I tried with Toedscool at the Socarrat trail. Best thing to do with non-outbreak shiny hunting is to save the game before making the sandwich, then you try to hunt for the pokemon. If no shiny comes out, just reset the game, make the sandwich and hunt again. This way you'll only use 1 set of ingredients.
