People usually make guide on smooth handheld footage, but I think the titles should be "controlled handheld footage". In Hollywood, a large portion of films are shot handheld with tension building motion. But KZfaqrs will always give tipes on how to take gimbal like footage without gimbals as a beginner! You provided exceptional tutorial.

NATO-mount top handles like the ones from SmallRig will also slide left and right if you have a top plate or nato rail across the top of the camera. This allows you to balance side to side to keep the camera level when supported primarily by the top handle. This is super helpful on my URSA Mini Pro G2 rig.

I tried to run a lightweight setup on the FX6 for a while but eventually I realized I liked the footage better with a heavy setup. My back is not happy but my clients are.

Kofi, thanks again for another addition to your mini master classes! Question, I'm hovering over FLYCAM as a more economical purchase vs. the big brand support vest and wanted to ask you if you've used both and if it's a smart purchase.

Awesome video, as I'm going on 2 months now with the fx6 im definitely looking at the stability in shots, one lens I know that isnt amazing but I keep seeing people using on KZfaq is the 24-105 F4. This has literally been in and out of my cart for weeks trying to weigh in on this choice for just a little bit more stability. I think I see it in this video a couple times as well. Just curious your thoughts on it.
@rogrdotnet
@rogrdotnet Жыл бұрын
Hey. I have an fx6 and also the 24-105 f/4. It’s a great combo for events and run and gun but definitely a jack of all, master of none lens. It all depends on what you’re filming and how much time you have to set up the shots! Stability wise, the OSS helps a bit but won’t substitute having an easy rig or a slightly heavier rig to help smooth out the jitters. Hope this helps.
@PNWMOTION
@PNWMOTION Жыл бұрын
@@rogrdotnet Hey yes it does help, so I basically use the fx6 for run and gun, for example I have a fire fighting recruitment video coming up in sept and I won't be able to bring a ton of gear with me as I will be riding along with them and will be basically shooting as much as I can as fast as I can with little to know warning as to what's happening haha so an easy rig is not an option. My fx6 is rigged out as much as it can be but was curious if this lens would make it just a little smoother but the quality wouldn't suffer a ton. I guess I don't want to end up buying it only to have it site in my kit.

I love this lens for this exact reason! The optics are really good actually. For event coverage, it can't be beat. For commercial work, I've been using the 24-70 gm ii because it works with the RS3 Pro in such a way that you can quickly rebalance one gimbal motor and jump between 24, 35, 50 and 70. In fact the 24-70 is so gorgeous and sharp that I ended up selling the 24gm and 85gm. Kept the 35gm because it's a preferred focal length for fashion. The 24-105 stacks up and is one of Sony's great lenses

@PNWMOTION Жыл бұрын
@@kilikdudley haha I use the 35 gm for fashion as well, I also just love that focal length in general but thanks for the tip on this lens it’s been such a hard decision to make and a lot of people love it while others not so much but I wanted something that I can just leave on the camera for long days, have that reach just a tad further than the 24-70 and have oss as well.

I actually don’t have one ! It’s a 24-70 sigma or the 24-70GM ii 🫠 it is a well talked about lens
