I just had the standard edition on disc with the season pass. I went into the store, selected fallout, selected version to get (PS5) download the game and all the dlc in the following menus. Everytime I play the game I need the PS4 disc which is no big deal.

The PS plus version wasn’t eligible for the upgrade. I ran out of time to cover everything in this video. I think maybe try deleting the PS plus version, load from your disk, then try the upgrade.

@JillGrygas I never redeemed/downloaded the digital PS Plus version, but it looks like the store is trying to force me to redeem the digital copy included with my subscription instead of using my disc to upgrade. Bummer. That's why I'm theorizing you may not have ps plus right now, because then it would try to make you get the digital version included with your subscription instead of upgrading through the disc menu. I appreciate the response though. Right now I'm guessing that if you have a subscription for PS Plus, it won't show you a Free PS5 Upgrade option if you put in the disc. Instead, it will only give you the option to select a digital copy that is part of their ps plus library. Even if you've never redeemed that version, it will be the default version that shows for download when inserting the disc. Sorry if I'm in the weeds a bit, but I've tried everything to upgrade using my ps4 disc copy, and my plus subscription seems to be blocking that ability. When I saw your vid, I was like "HOW!?" lol anyway, the search continues. Thanks!

@pedrosilva5602 Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a solution. My PS Plus Extra expires in December, but I'll still be looking in case anything changes. Whether on purpose or not, this design prioritizing their paid service over our physical copies is really lame. With the game installed from the disc, I've tried the three dots from the game's hub on my dashboard, selecting View Product, selecting the three dots from there and going through each version available to see if I can find one that's the upgrade and not the PS Plus version asking to be redeemed. No luck. I turned the console off and on and redid the process again. Nothing. I went back to the game's page on my dashboard, and instead of the three dots, I went to the little square tile on right. For me, it has a cover photo of the game, says "Full Game" and under that it has the PS Plus symbol and the word "Included" in gold letters. This is the biggest difference I see between me and the uploader of this video. Hers says "Free PS5 Upgrade" instead of the ps plus "Included." I select the tile and this also takes me to the store page, so I select the three dots from this store page and again go through the versions available, but no matter which I pick, it still pushes up to either pay or download the ps plus digital copy. I turn the console off and on and retry this process as well. I also pressed the Options/Start Button on my controller while hovering the square tile, there is an option to view the game and again it takes me to the game's page on the store and the same versions are there. Now I went into my "Game Library" and went to the Fallout 4 tile there. If you press the tile, it takes you the game's page on your dashboard. Instead, I pressed options/start to see if I can do anything different, and there's nothing consequential, but I tried everything from here as well. I tried to do it through a browser. I tried to do it through the Playstation app. I also uninstalled the game and did all this with only the disc inserted and the word "copy". Still no luck. It doesn't seem doable. If I find anything or if it gets fixed, I'll make sure to come back and comment. As of right now, it looks like my ps plus would need to lapse in order for the "Free PS5 Upgrade" to be available. It may seem trivial, but the reason I don't want to redeem the ps plus version is because I won't have ps plus next year due to the recent price hike, so I dont want to waste my time redeeming something I won't be able to access next year. But I've had this physical copy for years and will have it long after I unsubscirbe to ps plus. It just makes sense to redeem the version where my disc will need to be inserted and not have something I will be locked out of in 2025. There absolutely should be a version where it detects your disc and offers you the disc-based upgrade, even if you have ps plus.

The work around should work, or if you wait Bethesda says they are going to give a free upgrade for PlayStation plus extra accounts.

Do you have ps plus? For some reason it is not letting people upgrade for free if they have ps plus. I think Bethesda is supposed to fix that at some point.

I have the same GOTY disk as you but no option for a ps5 upgrade anywhere on either the game page or the ps store. Pretty weird.

One thing I tried in your video. I had the dis in the ps5 because i was playing it a few days before the uodate, i removed the disc And put it back in( the equivalent of tech support saying have you tried turning it off and on again) and the upgrade option was there lol. Thanks for the help

Its an UPGRADE not just some update. It overhauls graphics and shit and even added new content like adding the enclave and new quests
