Installed a 17 tooth Max torque clutch on the Predator 212 on the minibike to see how much it would improve the top end. Did some zero to thirty MPH speed runs to find out how much the taller gear ratio would slow down the zero to thirty times? The best zero to thirty time before the swap was a 2.60 zero to thirty.
Also installed a kill switch on the bike.

@@Black66 I just announced that I'd be using a disclaimer sort of thing from now on. I'm sharing my thoughts with smaller channels like myself so that as a community more of us stand out doing the right thing. We at least two deaths, one atv and one go kart this past week or so. I saw it on the news which is never a good sign in all my years. I'll probably just mention it first thing in my riding videos and go back to wearing a helmet to be safe. I remember the 80s with 3 wheelers, I want nothing to do with something like that this day in age....😒.

I mounted one of those engines on a go cart that came with a 3 1/2 hp motor and gave it to my 11 yr old granddaughter ---big mistake. Started it up, she stomped the throttle pedal, fishtailed twice as she pealed rubber nearly out of sight. Closest I've ever seen my daughter have a heart attack! My granddaughter screamed around the parking lot in a city park, hit the road in front of her house . She must have hit 40 mph and she flipped it trying to take a turn too fast. It's now for sale! lol

When I was a kid, they put a wood block on the gas pedal so it wouldn't go too fast. Lasted till we took it off and almost killed each other lol

Her two older brothers got the baja minibikes at that same time. Oldest grandson was flying across the city park in the grass when he hit a shallow ditch hidden in the grass. He did a complete somersault in the air but wasn't hurt. @@Black66

That thing is freakin sweet man👍....its funny how us grown ups are out having fun on mini bikes and other things and the kids wanna stay inside and play video games lol🤣....I seen those bad a$$ karts in the back too 😍 nice....I have been looking for a dirtbike,mini bike,go kart just anything to get my kids outside but like I said I'm probably gonna end up being the one having fun nice vid man✌

Very clean bike! Haven’t finished mine yet but have that same heavy duty 17 tooth clutch on my 212. Billet flywheel, rolling rocker, 20lb springs, shorty head gasket, port and polished, no gov… my rear sprocket is a 54 tooth tho so it’s closer to a 3.18 ratio. Think it’ll hit 75 when finished 🤷♂️

Couldn't you do similar to the mower pulley swaps and weld or find a big sprocket for the engine and a real small sprocket on the rear and get the same or similar results? Been thinking about this for a while I'm just now getting into gocarts and mini bikes so it's great to see some different ideas.

How would you rate that chain breaker, it looks really nice and stable, I was considering getting it untill I read reviews, so I just got this 19 piece set chain breaker with a bunch on different sized pusher things yea it works but it's still tedious, I hate that because i often bend the rods, the reviews on the one I got weren't so great but for same price I had extra rods, even it some broke they still kinda worked.

My set up for a grenade: 38 jet. Ported or gx390 carb. 26lb springs. Mod 3 cam full exhaust. 4-5 heat range plug. Dont even have to break the engine down

Ya,they have alot if stuff for these minibikes these days. This is a pretty mild build and it still moves out pretty good. Ya, this desert makes for good riding on these bikes out here.

Although I'm not a fan of 35 or 315 size Champions how weak it is, I've never had it hold up the power on any of my bikes they always twist the Chainz after a few miles, I will say though that if you want to go faster and have a better gear ratio having a higher tooth front driver is very beneficial. I would just like to see a 12 tooth 420 size driver so I don't have to use the 12 to 3:15 or 35 chain size driver

RLV gold on gold 35 chain will hold up very well on these bikes.I really like that chain. I have never had a problem with it.

How does that not just wheelie and flip you off? I had a mini bike with a predator 212 and it supposedly had bigger cam and pistons. I’m 6’2 255 lbs and when I rode it for the first time, it wheelied very quickly and throw me off. I broke my nose, fractured my right wrist and got road rash on my hands and knees.

Sweet! I bet you will really like the CC100X it's a nice bike. I think they are both great bikes!! The 200u would be a perfect second bike. That way you have a small tire and a big tire bike.

How do you tune the mikuni? I can't find any information online about it... mines popping when I rev it. Also hows the take off with that and the juggernaut? I about backflipped. I have the mikuni 22mm Japanese version, ark billet flywheel, juggernaut torque converter and a racing spark plug installed so far I tried to test ride it in the yard but I think when I zip tied the throttle cord I pulled it a little and it got stuck up more than it should have been and when I went to give it some gas it wanted to shoot off like a rocket.

When it pops that usually means its lean. I would move up in main jet size .If it pops while your giving it gas then I would move the clip down on the needle on the plunger one notch at a time until it stops popping. . That will riches it up . It's kinda hard taking off on that little bike with that much power.

@@Black66 mine wasn't that bad before... I had a pretty stiff spring for the throttle return so you really had to twist it to move and I think that kept me from going to fast with the stock carb but the mikuni has its own spring so I guess I'm just going to need to get use to it 😅 but I'll try adjusting it tomorrow and see what it does and I might test ride it if I can make it out if the yard with out backflipping.

I have a stock predator with just the governor removed what would you recommend for the ratio to get good 45-50 speeds? if that’s even possible? I just want it to cruise around and have some fun and might build it later.

A stock predator with the governor removed will do 45-50 all day long with the correct gearing . To get the gearing close we need the tire height and what gear is on it now.

I believe it. Predators are fast when you remove the governor. Especially when they are geared for top speed. Yes, the oil sensor and governor have been removed.

I picked up the clutch from OMB warehouse eBay store. Here is the link. www.ebay.com/itm/174601618646 I would put a universal sprocket adapter on the Motovox bike. Your bike uses disk brakes. The sprocket on this Azusa brake is made for a drum brake. If your bike is already running 35 chain, then you can leave the stock rear sprocket and just run the 17 or 18 tooth clutch with the Predator 212. It will run really well with that ratio.

New to all this but whats your reasoning for going with this instead of a torque converter system?

Check out my other videos. I use a torque converter on quite a few different bikes. The reason I don't run one on this bike is that the instant torque would be way to much for this small frame as far as keeping the front end on the ground. With this size bike a clutch delivers plenty of low end power. Also I would loose quite a bit of top speed. Another reason is, I like the simplicity of running a clutch.

Oh for sure . I think you can get some good speed out of it if you have the right gearing and the governor removed .

How do you think this change would apply to something a machine with 28 in wheels and the 212 engine ?

It would depend on what size rear sprocket you have. There is a point where you might have too much gear for the engine to be able to pull. Check out a gear ratio calculator. They let you plug in tire height, clutch sprocket, and drive sprocket size.

Hey brotha what will happen if I add this 17 tooth clutch on a stock predator 212cc? The rear sprocket is 72 tooth.

I think it will still help the top end. Especially if you remove the governor. When you add the 17 tooth clutch it will slow it down a little taking off but it will have more top speed. If you want it to still have good take-off power and top speed, then you can always compromise and use a 15 or 16 tooth clutch.

I believe it. A lot depends on the gearing. The minibike reaches the maximum potential of the engine at around 60 MPH, because of its gearing. If I wanted to go faster, I would need more gear on the clutch or a smaller gear in the rear. Before I did the clutch change, The minibike would only do around 40 MPH. I have a kart video coming out about gearing. We did 72 on the GPS with a fairly mild Hemi build.

I'll tell you what I put a regular 30 series torque converter on my stock 212 predator non hemi and I'm clock 63 on mine too I'm in the middle of transferring it over to a 110 ATV I'll be curious to see if I get the same top speed on it

It's a chain breaker . It is really nice to have because you dont need chain links. You can cut the chain any length you want. You can buy the chain breaker on go power sports and places like that.

I’ve always said if you want to go fast with a predator 212 you gotta put at least a 14 tooth clutch sprocket on it. I noticed the billet side cover on your motor. What all have you done to it?

Ya, that is true. You definitely need at least a 14 tooth sprocket on there to get the speed out of The Predator 212. The mini bike has a mild build on it now. It has a GX160 head with stock valves,1 to 1 ratio shaft-mounted rocker arms,265 lift cam, a Billet rod and flywheel, Mikuni carburetor, and a header pipe.

@@Black66 Right now I have a Predator in my mini drag trike. It’s got the 265 cam, billet flat top piston, billet rod and flywheel. No head work though and with the 12 tooth on the torque converter it still yanks the front end on a 7mph roll. Totally crazy.

Hey, I have a stock 212cc with a 30 series torque converter (CVT). I have a 40T rear sprocket and a 50T rear sprocket. Which sprocket will give me a higher top speed?

The lower the rear sprocket, higher end, and depending on ur engines low end torque, may slow it down, unless your pushing higher then stock HP and torque

@@RevHeadz95 I wound up putting the 40t on a modified engine and the 50t on a stock engine with a mikuni. Both are 212cc, both have 30 series CVT. I don't really notice a difference between the two bikes at all. But, I've yet to do a top speed run on the 50T, the 40T will do about 50mph with a 220lb rider

I pulled 52mph with a briggs flat head mod motor. Runs on m1 methanol ..fully built motor but runs outta gear quick..plus I don't have brakes yet.

@@Black66 sick.. I have a predator 212 I wana build but the flat head everyone smiles at. Big flames poping and crackling. This one was built by PRE in south Carolina. They aren't in business but I was able to get in touch with the owner. I've never cracked the motor so I don't know exactly whats in it but he told me what they did exactly to them.

Ya,I think the cam and springs make the engine turn more RPM's . The mods like the billet rod and flywheel increase the durability of the engine so we can turn it at higher RPM's without it coming apart . Hopefully lol

@@keithbrown7088 On a small frame like this Azusa , a low gear ratio makes a lot of torque and makes it wheelie super easy ! And you limit the top speed . If it has 5 inch tires , it will be super torquey .

A torque converter would work awesome on this bike, but it's so small that I have a hard time using all the power now taking off without a wheelie bar. So I figured a clutch wouldn't be so torquey off the line.

@@Black66 lol I have that same problem 😅 I accidentally did a wheelie a couple times and I just have a cheap Amazon converter. I was looking into the juggernaut from go power sports I've heard good things about it. Its supposed to give you more torque at high rpm and it shines over 5k which is where mine tops out. I can tell the engine wants to go faster but my converter tops at about 35-40mph around 5k rpm

So far I've only got the spark plug,exhaust, air filter, and flywheel replaced on mine but I eventually want to do the rest of it, rods, lifters, cam and what not. I need to learn more about gearing and what not. And I eventually want to add a battery and lights.

@@koreywilliams4570 I think your bike would fly with the combo you have right now with the right gearing. I used a cheap torque converter on the mobility chair I have with the mini bike engine. That thing would pull a wheelie easy. It even broke the wheelie bar! LOL, I bet that juggernaut converter would really be awesome.
