If someone is on your command line, you have way bigger problems to worry about than your Wi-Fi password. They're already on your system and your network.
@LimitedWard
@LimitedWard 9 ай бұрын
That's exactly what I was thinking. If they already have direct access to your system, what's the point? Though this does demonstrate how a hacker could use your machine to hop over to another one with higher privileges on the same network. So from an individual perspective, this isn't all that useful, but if you're trying to hack a corporation it would be much more powerful.

The paswords are just the saved ones that YOU had to type in on YOUR machine to connect to whatever wifi access points that required a pssword. its literally where your computer looks when it needs to connect to an already established access point. And for those of you saying "ohhh once someone has your wifi password youre compromised. Like no, just change it, just change the whole network name whike youre at it. If youre really at the point that someone has backdoored your machine and os offloading info to their own server, then you have much bigger issues.

I *never let anyone* touch my computers at home and I *always lock* my computer at work, before leaving my desk for any reason. I just think it's a good practice.

its very true, ive done it... my buddies step dad was always on a power trip with the wifi password, so i made him a script that would embed itself into his moms computer and silently send me the password every hour lol

How did you remotely execute shell commands?

not remotely@@Grayest_Fox . A lot of times they ask us to do stuffs for them, on their PC. Like typing/correcting/editing docs etc. Even if they saw us running these commands they wouldnt know what is going on.

I hate and love the times we live in. Technology has done many great things. But when you have stuff like this and much more malicious ways to ruin someones day. Yeah that kinda takes the joy outta it.

If you use an asterisk for the name, it will list all of them. I have a .bat script that I use to do this when I forget the Wi-Fi password.

It's like if you invite a guest and they bring an unknown friend along who then covertly makes impressions of your keys. Still a threat.

This is a command "only" for all WiFi that has been used/connected. Not for finding a new WiFi password

During high school our computer teacher taught us this and we borrowed laptop from other teacher to steal the school wifi password. They changed it quite often but we found patterns and just had to guessed them.

Useful when you've been logged in for so long you forgot the password you made and want to add a new device. Actually just happened to me so thanks for the info :)

I used these in high school on one of the library laptops. They had open wifi, which was garbage because everyone was on it, and a restricted official-use-only wifi, which ran much faster. Got the password from this trick, gave it to a few close friends. Never got caught.

yeah this is why you have guest wifis for your house, so people cant get access to your devices. even if you log in for them, it is very easy to get the password from a phone or pc
