Great description on this subject. I'm a single figure handicapper (9) who has struggled a lot recently with the issue of a strong grip resulting in pulls, especially off the tee. Changing the grip is a nightmare, but this video has been a real help. Cheers Pete.

Been golfing for several years now and this was the best video I have ever seen for the grip. I was told to use a strong grip when I started and it took me a very long time to correct this and my swing path. I also recently switched from an interlock to overlap and found that this corrected an “overgrip” or to much pressure and also helped swing tempo and release. Amazing sometimes how little changes effect so much.

Fantastic video Pete, not many videos out there that go in to that much detail regarding grip, the golf club already feels better in my hands and I cannot wait to try it out at the range.

This video was a real light bulb moment for me. I felt like I couldn't both hold the club comfortably and square the face of the club at address. I'm not sure what part about this video exactly unlocked my thought process, but it was a huge help. Thanks, Peter!

I've been struggling with a hook for while now and no other video has filled me with confidence, but this 1 has! Straight away you pointed out the strong grip, this is me all over. I'm going to put clubs around the house now. Can't wait to get to the range. Cheers Mr finch, I'll give you an update on my progress. Keep the awesome content coming.

Peter Finch Golf update on my strong grip causing the dreaded duck hook. I now have a neutral grip and it feels natural. Hitting the ball straight (slight draw) almost every shot. Big thanks to you Mr finch, my confidence is through the roof right now, I'm ready to get my handicap down in the season ahead. Cheers

Any thoughts on the lower right hand thumb? I've been told to place on left of shaft as on top will put unecessary tension in right forearm.

I've recently implemented the feel that my arms drop as the downswing starts. I also made my club face strong on the backswing planes. I have stopped slicing but I pull hook it left or sometimes hit it straight or low fade. Are these moves healthy in the swing?( for all clubs BTW ) overall it's helps my drives but my wedges don't work well with the swing. The new swing also includes a stronger grip only for driver. Not overly stribg but no more than 3 knuckles strong. Any opinions or tips please.

Hi Pete Is there a specific reason for the left thumb not wrapping around the club, and been placed on top of the grip? Or is it more for right hand alignment? Cheers mate

I had a lesson last week, grip size was mentioned. I was advised to get jumbo grips, how important is this to helping the grip?

Different grip styles and the size of the actual grip is going to suit different people, also depending on the size of your hands. Try and few different ones and see what feels right for you

I know the grip Peter is showing is text book but what about a Danny Willet or Jim Furyk sort of grip... are they ‘wrong’? Very nice easy to follow video though. 👍🏻

Ive seen tips/lessons where the follow-through position halfway through is similar to what you display, but always had doubts, as it looks like the club is being "held open" in that kind of follow-through. However, you are the FIRST to mention that the club face in that position of the follow-through should "match your spine," so it's starting to make sense, since you (and many others) say the club face should match the spine angle in the back swing. If it matches up in the back swing, why not the follow-through?
@peterfinchgolf
@peterfinchgolf 6 жыл бұрын
Generally speaking the clubface will shut faster after the ball during a full swing but matching to spine is a good image to have
@joeperez3520
@joeperez3520 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, the club will close quickly once it reaches the position you show and continues on behind you. You helped Dan Whittaker with a sale of his "Rotational Fundamentals" series. 😉. Between the both of you I'm convinced that this the direction I should be heading towards.

Peter I see there is a a considerable gap from the top of the shaft to where you start gripping the club why?
@peterfinchgolf

Its just relatively central on the grip. To be honest, its whatever feels comfortable given your height and posture
