The Philodendron Selloum or Bipinnatifidum plant has that uniquely tropical, groovy transmitting good vibes style that I love. Fortunately, this subtropical species is very straightforward to care for. Just keep mind some basic caring guidelines and you can be sure it will thrive.
How to care for a Philodendron Selloum:
To take care of a Philodendron Selloum keep it under indirect or moderate light exposure. Water it regularly to keep its soil moist but not soggy. This variety shows a preference for warm temperatures higher than 55 Fahrenheit (12.8 Celsius). Keep it away from the frost during winter and do not place under AC or heater vents.

Good video. But If you want to increase the humidity, misting and keeping water trays around the plant wouldn't work. This is because plants need consistent humidity.

Mine has almost every leaf looking almost dead and very brown. I stopped watering it for a while but it's still very sad. What should I do? I don't want to clip the ugly leafs, because it's almost all of them! Can anyone give me some advice or reassurance. I think it's going to be okay, but it's not as happy as I would love. Help!

I'm sorry to say but there is no such thing as over watering, if your soil drains well and you have drainage holes in your pot you really can't "over water" it unless you go nuts and give it a drink everyday 😅 Essentially when watering a plant you want water to flow or of the bottom of the pot that is how you know you are thoroughly satisfying the soil without leaving dry spots. That is how you give a plant root rot by only proving slight moisture and not enough for the roots to use before they dry out again causing them to die off and rot.

@BigBoyPlants

Hi! I have seen the same. However, after a few weeks, it gets darker and stronger. I wouldn't think that fertilizing is needed unless you notice that the leaves are drooping and have spots.

Beautiful plant! Do you have any recommendations for potting soil? I recently repotted my selloum with a general organic mix. Unfortunately it may have too much organic matter and is retaining too much moisture. Don’t want to stress my plant by repotting soon, but am thinking of maybe adding perlite, peat moss or sand next time...
@BigBoyPlants
@BigBoyPlants 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Karen! Adding perlite sounds like a good idea to promote drainage. Also reducing water frequency could help while you find the right moisture level.
