Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Use common sense when handling plant materials: wear gloves, always wash hands, avoid contact with face, etc. NEVER consume any plant which has not been positively identified with complete certainty to be safe and edible. Before planting anything, research to determine whether specific flowers are considered invasive where you live or if there are laws that apply to their planting in your area.
------------------------
What is "@freshcutky"?
@freshcutky documents the pursuit of my goal of one day owning my own cut flower farm. Along the way, you'll see random projects, cooking, and of course - growing stuff. I'm not an expert, and would never claim to be. There's always more to learn - this is my journey. The purpose of my blog, and other social media accounts (including KZfaq) is to share ideas. I do my best to offer information that is useful, but reliance on that information is strictly at your own risk and NOT a substitute for professional advice of any kind. You always give the best information, can't thank you enough. I have many corms to plant and was going to try some in pots and others in a long cold frame, zone 7 East Tenn. I thought to keep the potted ones in a very cool garden room where the temperature doesn't get terribly cold over the winter. I know that wild Buttercups do incredibly well here, so I wonder if these will do as well. Thanks for your great garden tips!

Ranaculus is actually the first flower I ever grew this year. Just saw corns for sale so I bought some. Those that flowered flowered nicely but not many did. Planted late courtesy of stores being shut, clay soil, no where near enough fertiliser and probably too little rain and too many fairly hot sunny days for weeks on end in the UK. It remains as dry as I can remember. Dahlias potted in compost have impressed me.

I'm so happy I came across your channel! I am in zone 7b, and am obsessed with ranunculus. I just sprouted about 40 corms (I ordered 100 more ) and am in a panic wondering whether I should plant them directly in the ground, cover with a frost cloth when needed, or create a make shift tiny hoop house, put them in a container... our winters at the Jersey Shore are so erratic. The 100 I have coming should I sprout in Feb, we have a decent Spring here...thank you in advance for any advice xoxoxo

Another fabulous video! 😃 Thanks for putting it together. I, too, love ranunculus. 💓 The first flowers I grew. Unfortunately, I find the quality from the suppliers that I’ve tried do vary a lot. I’ve read that it is best to buy the largest size corms possible, but few suppliers provide this info. Do you mind relaying which providers you’ve had the best results with? I am in zone 6b, too, and am really looking forward to starting mine in the fall for the first time this year! 🌸🤞🏻🌸 I have saved my corns in the past, but with shotty success in getting them to sprout the next year. If this year I have success, I’ll share the results with you. Thanks again for providing such great info!

Do you know when these become available on Floret? They're unavailable right now.

I believe floret has already sold out for fall. I think she also sells them in spring. 🌱🌱🌱

Hi! I got these tubers recently from Lowe’s, when do I plant them. Package says Feb-March for Texas 🤷🏻‍♀️ do I do it now or should I wait till October

Ranunculus love cool weather. Personally, I would get them growing immediately so that they have a chance to bloom before hot weather arrives. Storing them until fall might be very difficult. Good luck!

I tried over wintering this past growing season in a raised bed with pvc and plastic. Some bloomed and others didn't do so well. Then right when I went strip them out those other one's started blooming. Im going to build a hoop house starting this week and try to over winter them again. I think your tip about the extra frost blanket will help. My question is did you leave the frost blanket on through Jan and Feb?
@TONYAwiththeflowers

I remove the frost blanket, as needed. Last year, I left it on for extended periods of time and noticed a lot of problems with mold. Hope that helps! 🌱🌱

I'm in zone 6b also, and I'm planning to start growing both my ranunculus and anemones the second week of February. Is that too late? Should I start earlier? Also, don't have a hoop house to transplant them into. Is that ok? I'm growing them for the first time, and nervous that I won't be successful.

It's hard to say. Generally ranunculus can handle temperatures above 30F pretty well. Personally, I would definitely pre-sprout them before putting outside to save time and help them get established more quickly. I wouldn't stress too much about whether or not they'll grow. The first time I grew them, I planted them in late April. They still bloomed, but the flowers were just very tiny. The establishment period is key. Hope that helps!

What do you do for compost? Your gardening style and mine are super similar. No need to spend a ton of money if you don’t have to! Right now I’m trying to figure out how to get lots of compost without breaking the bank.
@TONYAwiththeflowers
@TONYAwiththeflowers 3 жыл бұрын
I use the "cold composting" method. It takes quite a bit longer than some other methods, but I really like that it's cost effective and requires very little effort from me. Lol.

Any advice if I can grow snap dragons and ranuculus in the same garden bed? I have limited space and live in a warm climate so I’m aiming to grow these next to each other in the winter before our sun takes over. Any thoughts or objections?
@TONYAwiththeflowers
@TONYAwiththeflowers 3 жыл бұрын
I would worry that the snapdragons might be shaded out while they're still very small. Let me know how it turns out. Good luck! :)

FRESHCUTKY Cut Flower & Vegetable Garden ok thank you for the heads up!

I probably missed it but are these cut and come again? What I mean is, are they like zinnia where you deadhead a boom and another grows to replace it? I hope that makes sense. There has to be a list of these kinds of flowers somewhere, I know zinnia can't be the only ones! That's the main reason I LOVE zinnia! Thanks for all of your videos!
@TONYAwiththeflowers
@TONYAwiththeflowers 3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't consider them cut and come again like zinnias, but each plant definitely produces multiple flowers over the bloom period, or in my case, until it finally gets much too hot. Hope that helps! 🌱🌱

It's probably unlikely. I would only consider covering them if temperatures dip below 28F. Good luck! 🌱🌱🌱
