Tonya, This is the best of the best guides for Growing Ranunculus. I'm in zone 7A, Right after I watched your video in early Nov, I soaked all my ranunculus corms, then planted them out in late Nov. The cold snap before Xmas was really scary,(Sorry it swept up yours)I used whatever I had to build a caterpillar tunnel. When I uncovered the tunnel on X-mas morning, I was surprised to see everyone survived. It makes me feel like this is the best Xmas gift ever. They're very healthy so far, Can't thank you enough for your wonderful guide. Will keep following you.

This is the second year I've tried ranunculus. First time was a bust. This time they look lovely and have lots of buds! I'm so excited! I planted in early March and hooked and covered them. This year I want to try fall planting half of them and comparing the results.

There are so many haters on the internet. I’ve found that those who have the most harsh comments are those who don’t have much gardening experience themselves. So with their narrow experience/ singular context, they’re criticizing your choices. The important thing is to learn the principles of gardening. When you have a wholistic view, you’ll be far less critical of the methods others use.

Thank you for the fantastic videos. I’ve learned so much from you! After successfully growing Dollar Store ranunculus corms, I graduated to Home Depot corms. I planted them last October and am now enjoying their blooms. I now have the confidence to buy some of the pricey corms and try again this October. Very exciting!

Hi! I’ve been growing ranunculus for two seasons (this is my second season) in zone 5. Last season after the flower stopped blooming and died back, I pulled up the corms and stored them in the garage in a dark dry place that did not freeze. I pre-sprouted them in early spring, and they all came back. They are in the ground now and I got my first bloom. So I think you can keep them like perennials as long as you go to the trouble of pulling them. They are a little like bulbs. ❤❤❤

How early do you find you can put them in the ground in zone 5? We often get a deep dive in our temps somewhere between february and march so I'm nervous to put them in the ground. I'm planning to do crates this year so I can rescue them if we get a dive in temps...we are 5b/6a

Yes on Ranunculus! Next year might be my lucky year. This year was my first try … about 20% pushed some leaves before it got too hot … 80% moldy. 😅

First of all, thank you for this amazing video, so interesting!!!!! 😊 I love ranunculus so much, it’s kind of an obsession!!! I live in Canada, zone 3b, and I had some corms survive winter in the ground (I forgot to dig them up! 🤪) and sprout when snow melted in the spring! Anyone else experienced that? But usually, I dig up my corms after flowering, dry them, store them all winter and pre-sprout them the following spring!

Wow that's awesome!! I'm just starting gardening and I'm finding it seems like from hearing from different people some flowers can stand colder zones better now a days. I'll definitely be experimenting with warmer zone flowers and see how I make out. Did you have any kind of ground cover over them. I'm in zone 6B so totally get excited when people in colder climates are successful!!!

@@tracyhillman I don’t clean my flowers beds in the fall so they were protected by a layer of dead annuals and leaves! I’m pretty sure you could overwinter them in zone 6b with proper protection!!! If you haven’t, watch the video on ranunculus from Flower Hill farm, one of the flower farmers she interviewed overwinters them in a hoop house and I think she’s in zone 5! Best of luck and happy growing!!! 😊

Ranunculus is a gorgeous flower. Your video was thorough and informative, but even more it was mesmerizing. You have so much beautiful footage of your flowers! Often I thought I was looking at photographs, and then an ant would stride across some petals or the wind would blow and wave the blooms. The fact that it was video made it all the lovelier. Just stunning quality of pictures, framing, etc. Thank you so much. I know this type of video takes time to bring together. Ten years of experience! I am going to start ranunculus for the third time here in zone 3 British Columbia Canada next month. My first time was small scale - 10 pink marshmallow amandine corms -and successful, but just as they were taking off, we had this unexpected 40 Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) weather (in June!) that year so half the time I had to move them into the house to stay cool! They were so so pretty. I had never knowingly seen one in person before growing them myself. So far I have grown them in large pots on our deck, but this year I have sent away for a few hoops to put up in the vegetable garden, so I'm going to try for a slightly earlier bloom time. We shall see...

My first go at growing ranunculus and totally didn't plant them in fall, but in early spring. I hope I'll still get some flowers! It's almost summer here in Australia, and I have plants that look healthy and about 6 inches tall. I live in a cool climate so this could go either way.. Yours are gorgeous. I'll try again in fall with season extension as you described..

Thanks for this very well rounded overview of ranunculus! I'm trying them for the first time this year, in a mixed border. I'm in the equivalent of US zone 8b (borderline 8a). I'm soaking them, will sprout them indoors and probably plant them out end of September (first frost is usually early November). We do get very wet winters so I mulch my flower borders and I plan on leaving the corms in year round. Fingers crossed I can keep them as perennials but if they are so pretty they are still worth it as annuals!

I dig mine up in zone 8a ,they should prob be fine but they do great if you let them dry and keep them in a cool dry place. Dont toss them ! They double and triple in a season

I’m zone 8a first season growing them, do you just wait for the foliage to die back and dig up? Rinse and let dry or just dust the dirt off and store back in the mesh bags.

Hi Tonya, I've been watching your channel for a few years and I love your content. I am planning to grow ranunculus this spring. I'm in zone 6a. During the sprouting process, do you need to cover the corms (do they need darkness) or give them a certain amount of light?

Took awhile to sprout and the vermits got to some of them but they are growing in NJ zone 7 a/b near the shore. Any suggestions on where to purchase, if you said I may have missed

I saw teeny ranunculus corms at Lowes. I didn't get, but I think I will go back and get some. I have a zip up greenhouse & a greenhouse so I think with your info, I have some confidence. 7B will try it now. My greenhouse will be warm for them to sprout, then will pot up and put in zip up greenhouse, as the temps don’t get so hot in there. Thank you so much!

What do you use to fertilize with. I left mine in over winter and they came back beautiful. But would like to fertilize with something. Yes mine is as a perennial.

Great tips! I presprouted mine, but I doubt that I will get any flowers since Ohio's weather isn't sure if we are still in winter or spring. The temps have been so crazy in either direction.

EXCELLENT VIDEO!!! I have kinda an atypical question & am hoping you answer questions in the comments (or anyone that wants to give me advice!!)!! I started my corms indoors about 2 months ago…with the intention of getting them to sprout & then planting outside with covers(Im in TN, zone 7b)…they sprouted indoors & I forgot about them!! I was following a different video recommending to soak them then start indoors leaving them in a cool, dry, dark place…which unfortunately is how I forgot about them. So currently I have a container with about 50% about 6” tall & healthy looking…& about 50% are limp but green…so my question is how likely is it for these limp looking ones to liven up? I’m definitely going to plant them, unless the corms are mushy when I transplant them, because why not?! After listening to your video, I wish I’d planted them in the fall when they first sprouted!! We are possibly going to have a light frost in a couple of days so I figure it’s probably best to actually transplant after that…& this time I’m not forgetting about them!!! Oh, when I did find these sprouted corms that I’d forgotten about, I watered fairly lightly & the limp ones stayed limp so they may be goners…booooo hooo!!!

I have some Romance varieties as well, growing right along with my cheaper varieties. I'm in zone 7A (just changed from 6B).
