In this video we show you how to grow Photinia from cuttings, this particular bush is the Red Robin variety but this method should work for the many varieties of Photinia available.
It's a simple process and only takes a matter of minutes, after a few weeks we will make a follow up video to show the progress.

Hey Daniel! how are your cuttings looking? I think the best method for taking Red Robbin cuttings is softwood in the summer and semi ripe in the autumn, not hardwood as you have done. you don't need them to be as long either and can even do "node to node". The honey is a bit of a myth, alot of cuttings will root without any hormone or something added. i believe the honey is "beneficial" due to its anti bacteria properties, although id personally buy a good brand of rooting hormone powder and give your cutting tips a light dusting in that instead. also, its best to leave one or two leaf's at the top of the cutting, you could even cut them in half to decrease perspiration. one last thing, make sure you have a good mix for your medium, add some sand, grit or/and perlight for good drainage and aeration :) how about you go out and take a bunch of cuttings (10 - 20) and try different methods, you could stick 6 or more in each pot the size you used. see what works best, my money is on this cutting not rooting but we will see :) (can take 6-8 weeks) Best of luck, Matt

Some of the cuttings didn't make it but that's why I took quite a few planted them just in case, some have grown into little bushes now.

Sooooo where did part 2 go on this? I'm just about to take some cuttings off mine, to place in a dark corner of the garden behind a wall, idea being ill grow them in pots in full sun, until they reach about wall height, to then transfer to the ground

THE CUTTING IS WAY TO LONG, ONLY HALF THAT AMOUNT IS REQUIRED. THE PLANT HAS TO USE A HUGE AMOUNT OF ENERGY TO KEEP THIS ALIVE & BE ABLE TO GROW. ONLY AROUND 8-10 CM IS REQUIRED . YOU ALSO SHOULDNT TAKE CUTTING WHEN A PLANT IS FLOWERING. CUTTING LEAVES IN HALF IS SOME NEW WEIRD FAD, ISNET NESSARIERY OR REQUIRED, JUST LEAVE TWO LEAVES AT THE TOP. ''CUTTING THE LEAF ''WILL CAUSE MORE STRESS TO THE PLANT . HONEY , NEVER HEARD OF THIS BUT ILL TRY IT AS IT LASTS FOR LIFE AS A RESOURCE , NEVER GOES OFF , SO COULD WORK WELL.

They will eventually outgrow the pots, (if you want them to grow to become bigger and provide the privacy you need) they need more room+nutrients hope that helps.

@@DanielJohnHowTo Sure. As stated below, the honey doesn't work, your soil is wrong, you leave a lot of stuff out about what time of yr. to cut, what kind of stem works best, etc., you say 'apparently' so much it sounds like you have no idea of what you're doing or if it'll work, you've ignored most of the people that have questions, you're just the first guy who has a video on this so you get hits but virtually every other video has better info. You waste peoples time.

@Daniel you say what you like, it's your channel, @Robert it's a figure of speech for him and it's used to imply that he doesn't think he is the total authority of what he does, but 'this' is what he has learned of 'way' of doing somthing.
