Commercially grown bananas that are cultivated specifically for consumption don’t have seeds. Over time, they have been modified to have three sets of genes instead of two (triploid) and produce no seeds. In nature, however, one encounters many banana types with seeds; in fact, some seeds are so large it is difficult to get to the pulp. That said, can you grow bananas from seed? I once told my friends banana have seeds, they teased me to a point that I was ready to fight them. Then I had a project to present in front of me class it was about vegetative and reproductive phase of plant and I intentionally added one slide about banana seeds. Then I treated them like cavemen.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

No comment. Maybe 😅 South African bananas don't have those huge seeds that would break your teeth when you bite thru a banana. You do get an inedible banana though.

Banana has seeds sticking in the inner linning fibreous thread type structure in the central part which holds the three banana flakes. The seeds are veri tiny and fixed in the banana pulp.Gently push finger on upper tip of peeled of banana to seperate three flakes and look top to bottom very tiny black points just as a pin point going serially downward. Most of the seeds will be unfertile or non-germinator but few of them will be matured to get the sproutout.

Mine germinated in two and a half weeks. In the same kind of enclosure but a heater blowing on them. I was about to give up and throw them all in pot . I didn't realize it took so long to germinate

Banana seeds only take more than 2-3 months if you are germinating them incorrectly. Bananas have a dormancy based on two factors, their moisture content (soaking) and the temperature cycle (they need warmer days and colder nights). If you take dry seeds, put them in soaking wet soil and kept the temp stable, you would likely have to wait 10-18 months (if they don't rot out first). Just soak your seeds for 48-72 hours and put them in paper towels, cover with plastic wrap and put on a southern facing window (the sun will take care of the day/night temp difference in this set up).
