Dear Hollis all you need to do is harvest the outer leaves and stems from your plants and they will continue to put out new stems and leaves from each plant center . When they "bolt" and put out seed heads, save the seeds for your fall/winter crop to be planted when the nearby trees begin dropping their leaves. You'll be able to harvest again until the outer leaves are ruined by cold weather. I love the stems too as a substitute for celery in salads. A new subscriber.

My Asian wife uses bok choy in a soup after boiling a few beef shank along with quartered potatoes and green beans. The beef shank broth is so good with just the right amount of salt. She boils the white part first in two inch chunks and cuts up the green leafy into much smaller pieces and after adding the green she turns off the heat and wait for about 25 minutes while it simmers Yup good stuff.! Some times I may add a little fish sauce but only if I make the recipe. For some reason when the wife makes it there is no reason to add any thing else. I enjoy your channel. TY.

My White wife will pick the outer row of stems, and leave the plant growing. Every time the outer row or 2 matures I pick them leaving the plant. I do this all summer long harvesting pak choi and the plant just keeps producing & very seldom ever bolts.

I am praying to the soil God's to help me find a miracle. I live in Arizona and I love to garden but my husband is cheap and never gets me the things that I need to grow basically anything good. So I wonder alleys and hope that some one is throwing out yard clippings or shoot one time I found 2 half bags of soil. I guess it was their leftovers. Well. The point of this message is. That it is wonderful to see a married couple who love to garden and who supports Each other. Also baby bok choy is my favorite I use it in every Asian dish almost but I would love to grow it because in the grocery store it's $4 just for a little bit. Praise God for people like your two teaching people like me. Thank you

I like how you show from start to transplant and all the progressions. So many videos say "How to grow" and all they show is putting seeds or transplants in a pot. YOUR video goes on to show what to look forward to. What the growing plant actually looks like. That is informative, helpful and refreshing. Thanks for taking the time to show the whole process. That is beautiful. My mouth was watering thinking of your soup.

This was the best video I’ve seen on growing Bok Choi!!! This is my first attempt at growing Pak Choi which as you know is the same as Bok Choy. When I planted my seeds, they germinated looking like micro greens. I was so confused I didn’t know what to do. I’ve looked at several videos, but your video is hands down the absolute best!!! I love the way you drew on paper how it grows and explained in excellent detail what happens as it grows. I’m praying I can save my crop, and get to enjoy my Pak Choi. Great suggestion on burying them deep with cotyledons at the soil level. I do have one suggestion for you. Open wounds placed directly in soil incur a greater chance that soil borne pathogens infect your plant. I would identify the leaves that will be removed about 10 days prior to transplant. Cut them off cleanly and let them callus. Just a little extra precaution.

I am SO GLAD I came across this video. I want to grow some Bok Choy this year, and your know how, is the best. I think this will be fun growing these. I love the tip about the long stem, and planting it deep. I wouldnt have known that. What size container are you using there? Also, what variety of Bok Choy is it?

Very interesting video. My wife and I love Bok Choy and Asian food. I planted one for the very first time this year just for the fun of it and it came up great. Any chance of you posting Nancy's soup recipe, as you make it sound super delicious. I also subscribed to your channel. Ya'll have a great day from Canada.
