Welcome to Fun with Plants and Cats! Today I'm going to show you how to grow your own cat grass! It's easy, interesting, and a satisfying plant to grow. Your cats are going to love you for it!

I've never had success, even with grow lights. Definitely growing to try your method. My cat is not the same during the winter months without her daily chew.

Thank you for making this video. I've been growing cat grass off and on for approximately twenty-five years. For the last few months it hasn't been working right and I don't know why. I do everything exactly how you say in the video. I'm wondering if old potting soil would be problematic

Thank you! The grass lasted a few more weeks after I grew it. One of my cats got a little too comfy and sat on the planter - the grass was quite smushed. I haven't grown it this year, but will consider growing more of it outside next year :)

I wonder if my dogs will like this? they like to eat grass and thinking of giving them there own area that they cant poop on. last time I did cow manure and got mushrooms. Ill try this.

Hello, how often do you put it in the sun and do you put it in direct sunlight? And how often do you water it? Do you still spray or do you put water at bottom?

Let them eat until vomit , they usually do this when they have hair accumulation in the stomach resulting deadly if not eliminated naturally, so let the grass on the floor

But most importantly how do I stop them from eating it all before it’s grown enough? I don’t have a single place they won’t get into

Your best bet would be to put it up somewhere high that is out of their sight. A tall bookcase? A shelf? You can try to drape a thin but dark fabric over it to prevent them from seeing it. Out of sight out of mind works great for most kitties.

In the pantry. In a closet , in a curio cabinet china hutch. Some cabinet with glass doors. I have 3 cats one there is nowhere too high. He can go everywhere especially if it is a shelf.

I planted my cat gras s in a raised box outside and about 70% of it went to seed. Can I just replant those to grow more cat grass or do I need to do something to the seeds first.? I have been all over the internet and can't seem to find an answer. Many thanks.

Cool video! How come you used Oat instead of actual cat grass? You can also try using chicken wire over the top and let thr grass grow through it then your cats can't get to the soil or eat them from the roots 😊

Heyy there. I just got my seed, about to soak them for a day. Is that better or just dump them in the pot of soil, and straight away water it?

Soaking seeds could help speed up germination. I don't do this simply because it's an extra step, and the seeds germinate pretty quickly without soaking. This is up to you though! Good luck :)

What do you do when they have eaten it all??? Do you spread more seeds and add more soil?

Yes, just make sure you get rid of any bits of the old grass because as it gets older it gets tougher and I’m not sure it still has the same benefits as fresh cat grass

plants need sun my man, esp these, they grow incredibly quickly and/or die (I tried indoors and they always end up gray and gross, sprinkled some into my outside pots and without touching them, got a full grow within 2 days)

@@Mephisto_sixsixsixhi friend! i’m sure you have found a solution by now but there are small LED grow lights available that will help simulate sunshine! i used these in my college dorm to keep my plants alive! while not the real thing, it does help!
