How to grow different mandarin tangerines. Tangerines are small oranges which can be easily grown in your garden. They are delicious, sweet and some varieties are seedless too.

Very helpful video. I have a Dancy I want to transplant to the ground. Do you or anyone happen to know if it’s okay to plant on near a 4 foot retaining wall? My property sits on a retaining wall. I’m about 4 feet above my neighbor’s grade. I am worried the roots will damage the wall. How far to plant from the wall?

thatpat1 In the house I meant in the house's premises. I guess inside the house you would need a south facing window and, a large roof and container. I would advice getting it outside for direct summer sun for better tasting fruits, but get it outside gradually as it might get some sunburns if left under full sun after being inside the house for a long time. I hope this is helpful to you.

LOVE, love your videos!! So helpful. I have 2 smallish Mandarines (Dancy & Murcott), produced great fruit sweet last year (seedy), it was their first production, but now have found out they are alternate bearing, & have no fruit this winter. Got some great info from the Master Gardeners from UCR. Just bought a 'Gold Nugget', hope it does well. OH, what is the "Citrus Belt"??? I still don't know what zone I am in (Lake Elsinore). Can you help me??

+ekeanor roberts Yes Golden Nugget is a nice variety too. My Dancy tangerine bears almost every year.. Since you are in Lake Elsinore you are in the citrus belt so yes all citrus should do well. Good luck!

Mr. CG, I have a question. Long time ago I bought a small tree that didn't have a tag. It fruits every year but the fruit always stayed small half the size of cuties but the taste was amazingly very sweet and creamy as in full of flavor. Do you happen to know this type of tangerine/mandarin? Your input is greatly appreciated.

Wow you have a green thumb, fingers and toes too!!! The tree looks so good loaded with fruit. I agree with Saroja' s comment. What is your total growing space? How many years since you are growing food? Is this the same plant you had done a video on when you planted it in the ground or was it a lemon tree?

Mumbai Balcony Gardener Thank you! I think I have about 700 sq ft of growing space, in which there are 3 areas - container garden, raised beds and then a fruit tree line along the fence. Its hard to grow in small spaces (in larger areas, people talk in acres not sq feet!) but I am doing the best I can to fit in my things in my space. This is a different orange tree, about 4 years old now.

Add citrus soil (amzn.to/3AIDwuz) to the base of your plants, add worm castings from VermisTerra.com (1 bag per plant, use coupon code CAG for 10% off) - add elemental sulfur (amzn.to/3ouEt4P) - in about 6 months you should be all set and your plants will produce vigorously next season!

Saludos (Greetings) from Puerto Rico. Two questions: I have a Tangerine Tree, it's six years old and has yet to produce fruit. Any logical reason it is taking so long to produce Tangerines? Next question: I thought ALL citrus trees produced thorns...this tree is absolutely thornless! Is that normal?

I just bought a semidwarf Pixie Tangerine tree from Osh for $19.99. I tasted this type of tangerine when we went to Ojai for spring break last year. Soooo sweet and no seed. So when i saw this tree at Osh (they have them at Costco too) I want to give it a try. Hopefully it will do well since Ojai Valley where this type of tangerines are widely grown is cooler than where we live ( La Verne)

Esther Leung That's a great choice and the price looks good too. I don't go much to OSH although there's one right next to where I live. Should check it out some time. Nice to know it tasted well and was seedless. Will see if I can get my hands on one plant! Also good that you chose the semi dwarf variety. They grow very well.

+user121304 The best place is local nurseries, then garden centers like Home Depot and Lowes but make sure you buy the right variety.
