I'm not an expert, I'm just some person with a garden. Thanks for visiting the Freshcutky organic gardening channel. This channel focuses on my journey, as I work to build my own cut flower farm. In the garden, I will answer some of the most common "gardening for beginners" type questions I get, including growing flowers from seed. Growing greens and planting beautiful organic food is something I'm really passionate about. Thank you for joining me as I learn to grow flowers, vegetables, and more.

Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Use common sense when handling plant materials: wear gloves, always wash hands, avoid contact with face, etc. NEVER consume any plant which has not been positively identified with complete certainty to be safe and edible. Before planting anything, research to determine whether specific flowers are considered invasive where you live or if there are laws that apply to their planting in your area.

What is "@freshcutky"?
@freshcutky documents the pursuit of my goal of one day owning my own cut flower farm. Along the way, you'll see random projects, cooking, and of course - growing stuff. I'm not an expert, and would never claim to be. There's always more to learn - this is my journey. The purpose of my blog, and other social media accounts (including KZfaq) is to share ideas. If it's not hardy, it can be grown as a summer annual too. Just transplant it as soon as the soil can be worked in the spring. It always blooms the first season here. Good luck!

So bizarre, my feverfew blooming mass is repelling all the bees, since it is an insecticide like other chrysanthemum family plants containing pyrethrums. I’m looking for folks with a different experience because I have to move or remove the plant out of my pollinator garden. Your variety looks like the double bloom cultivar - perhaps it isn’t as medicinal smelling/strong as the straight up species herb that is used medicinally and what I have growing - with the single daisy like flowers. Thanks.

The feverfew doesn't get too many bees. However, they are very attractive to many types of "good" predatory insects. 🌱🌱🌱

Hi Tonya! I came onto KZfaq to search for growing feverfew and found this vid. I followed your link to amazon to purchase the variety you recommended "white wonder " but they were all out. Have you tried winter sowing feverfew? If I can get some I'm thinking of trying it in my WS. Thank you!

@@syafiqahathirah just proper irrigation like you would for anything that grows in the desert. If you don’t have drip lines, just water by hand. There is no maintenance necessary, it only needs water. It self seeds pretty easily and is hearty through the winter here. Gets into the upper 20’s sometimes in Las Vegas

Do you start all your transplants indoors with a grow light?
@TONYAwiththeflowers
@TONYAwiththeflowers 5 жыл бұрын
No, I start all of my transplants outside. I use a combination of the winter sowing method and unheated low tunnels. There's a more detailed video on my channel about how I start seeds without grow lights. Hope that helps!

I'm getting ready to plant my seeds and was wondering about the cold stratification process? Do you just put the seed packet for a week in the refrigerator or do you put the seeds in soil with moisture and then in the refrigerator? new to this. Thank you :)
@TONYAwiththeflowers
@TONYAwiththeflowers 4 жыл бұрын
I always just put the seed packet in the fridge. I'm not certain that feverfew absolutely needs cold treatment, but I always do it just to make sure that I get good germination. Good luck!
