How to breed gardenia flowers.(Time Lapse )
Answer question:
Best in summer, but also in spring and autumn. High temperature is best.
Rain or tap water is fine.
Change the water once a week if you like. I didn't change the water. There are no nutrients in the water.
Put it in a place with light, but not in direct sunlight.
The pot is filled with coconut bran(Coconut Coir).
Use branches that are about a year old.
Clay Pellets is not required.
What floats on the water is Styrofoam.

A good trick is to clear the leaves a few days before cutting, not after, so that the branch has time to heal.

Thanks for the info. I have a 4 Gardenias that grow side by side. Before I moved here they looked pathetic. Now their Beautiful with tons of Blooms. Ever so often I have to pick them. But wanted to grow more of them cause I have a Big Yard. And they smell Wonderful! 😍

Brilliant!! I especially like how you float the polystyrene to keep the cutting at a constant contact level with the water as it evaporates. Very clever. I can't wait to try this out.

Fatema Ammar , I’m going to try this gardenia way today. my problem is roses. I have never gotten it right except for one , and my daughter did that one. Maybe it needs sun. She kept that one in the window seal.

@@FatemaAmmar76 hey Fatema. It actually hasn’t worked out for me. I’ve had greater success w/ planting mainly roses w/ rotting hormone, soil, and they key is keeping it in a green house which I have used a 2L soda bottle and can not recommend it enough!!!! Also, whenever possible, I love pulling out new growth ( W/ THE ROOTS INTACT)... I find that is the best way to split and grow new plants. However, I may try again w/ the gardenia... Bc it was a one time venture for me... also the plant itself wasn’t very responsive generally. Let us know when you do. 😘😘😘👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

@@dianafm9733 I too always put my cuttings on the windowsill and have had GREAT SUCCESS! Although, pls keep in mind that not all cuttings will make it. Many die right away. I’d say about half take root and blossom, and half wither away immediately. The key I have l found, and HIGHLY recommend is the “greenhouse method” in which I use a 2 liter soda bottle,, and again have had great success... I found this method on KZfaq. You can easily find it. There is a nice young man whose videos are A++! Let us know how it goes for ya! 😘💐💐💐

For people asking about sunlight, the video looks like it's a continuous time lapse. Looks like the container is inside under a constant 24/7 vegatative light cycle, probably some CFL bulbs. I'm just curious about the water, if it's just water or any nutrients. I always thought the water needed to be aerated, but I guess not?

I'm not a pro but my 7ft gardenia bush my grandpa planted 48 years ago died down to a handful of stalks cause the freeze 2 years ago 😅 gardenias like acidic soil you can mix coffee grounds for the necessary nutrients they need. When our Bush was full of flowers and 7ft the whole porch smelled like gardenias for about 10ft in any direction and random animals used frequent the area. When you move in the future uproot the whole bush and take it with you

Gardenias are kind of particular about their humidity and temperature needs. I've just transplanted my 2nd G- plant. I pruned it back 2day, put it in a bigger pot in preparation for "over wintering"... and now I have to "wait n see" how it handles going into a larger container I've learned gardenias are tropical but don't like the heat of full on sun exposure to roots/ leaves.

In a video where you don't use audio to explain your actions, it's advisable to use typos to describe. We as layman, don't understand whether you put fertilizers or something else in the pot. We also don't understand whether it was cocopeat or soil mix poured in the pot and if it was soil mix, the ratio of the ingredients.
