That was great info. I'm on my third time trying to grow Strawberries indoors.. in soil.. and getting very disconcerted. There is more useful info in your video than I have seen on others about growing in soil. And I've watched sooo many! Thank you so much!! I'm relieved that I might be able to take better care of them now that I understand better. If you might consider.. I'd like to know more about the EC levels. All the best to you and your Wife. 🌱😊🌱

Well done video with a lot of information. Have a note pad handy while you watch. Looking forward to watching more videos. I have been trying to grow plants using hydroponics and indoor light for several decades and this video contains tons of info. Got to get my hydroponic tubs back out and started. I always focused on growing tomatoes byt the info in this video can be useful for a lot of different plants. Thanks and Well Done!

Great video! I didn‘t know that the difference between „normal“ and „everbearing“ strawberry varieties is just the day length, very interesting. And that you can let strawberries grow and bloom „indefinitely“ till they reach their lifespan is pretty cool. I think i am going to try that out.

What size grow tent is that? Also how much Great White do you add to the water. I think my strawberry plant might need that, as the leaves are starting to wilt and get dry and roots are not getting new growth on several plants.

What is you grow light type? Also, which seed type grows the most through the year? Does one type grow bigger and juicer than others? Thank you for your video!

@DitchTheFlock
@DitchTheFlock 5 ай бұрын
It can be hard to find online what something is. Typically if it’s a long season crop it wants long days to flower and short season crops useally short day. I grew watermelon on a 12/12 light schedule. They take up a lot of space and use a lot of light but it was fun it’s not the most profitable to grow indoors under lights so I don’t anymore but outside it can do well hydroponically depending on climate

Hey! I was curious about the ideal EC for kratky strawberrirs. I see you're at 2.0 EC, but one resource I found from the University of Arizona suggests a lower EC (they say 1.0 dS/m or less). Is it just variety dependent? or maybe because they're using a different method like NFT? Thanks!
@DitchTheFlock
@DitchTheFlock 9 ай бұрын
I do deep water culture where we pump bubbles into the bottom of the bucket to supply oxygen so the plant does not drown. Kratky method is where you rely on the water going lower in the bucket for the roots to come in contact with oxygen so they do not drown. I would do the same EC I normally do for DWC. I start all plant transfers at 1 EC and build them up to 2.1 to 2.5 EC as they get larger. The only difference between DWC and kratky is how the plant receives oxygen so it doesn’t drown. I wouldn’t change the ECs I normally do some plants won’t flower below a certain EC all my plants get the same NPK aswell

Ilearned a lot. Didnt know letting small plants flower will make them look like they are diseased. Still believe a part of my plants falling back this spring was because i grew my strawberries on mostly clay soil. This early spring i dug them all up and put compost from my city at a ration of pretty much 50/50 with peat moss and perlite. Almost half my strawberries were removed and crown divided into pots because one of my seascapes was petty mcuh overcrownded so i managed to get 7 plants but i lost a few unfortunately. Bought a few adult plants to revive and have mara des bois strawberries this year while i left the small ones try to recover. I have gotten 4 plants from 2 Plants and i have 3 more coming from the other 3 who are starting to root. We cold winters here And idk how i can save my runners Or potted strawberries from the cold in zone 4b. I thought burrying them to toil level on my vegetable bed during winter so that they survive and can sell them or replace/expand my patch

hey ive been googling around for this info and its no where. What is the light cycles for: Seedling stage Vegetative stage Everything i could find was only giving me light cycles for flowering but I cannot for the life of me find any information on what the light cycle should be for seedling and vegetative stage.
@aphexamine
@aphexamine Ай бұрын
From my continued research into the most basic information (which isnt available) on how to grow strawberries indoors step by step this is what I have pieced together. Seedling/vegetative: Light should be 12inches away and ON for 10hours. As the plant matures lower the light (to get closer to the plant) no more than 6inches away and gradually increase the light cycle. At 12 hours the strawberry will speed up in growth. 14-17 hours is the general amount of light you want during flowering for strawberries. I havent been able to find any information on what i should set my light to for each cycle. I will assume it should be at a low setting for seedling (like most plants) but it being raised higher than other plants at the start suggests to start at a high setting for my light. It would be super fantastic (and something never achieved on the internet yet) to have a step-by-step guide on how to grow strawberries indoors. All the videos, articles etc are just people blabbing on about niche things when it comes to strawberry growing and nothing general or straight forward.

I have some seeds I’m trying to germinate in my hydroponics system . They haven’t germinated yet - it’s been 46 days . I have them in deep water hydro system . They are just furry and white but nothing germinating . The water is at 484 ppm . Temp 66. Ph 6.9 . I use the florablooms food . Am I doing something wrong or is it the seeds ? I’ve moved some seed to a cup and plastic wrap to see if they germinate in the cup .
@DitchTheFlock
@DitchTheFlock 7 ай бұрын
I have a video on how I start just about any seed in rockwool I will link it for you it should help alottt. If they are furry they are most likely dead. I start seeds without nutrients just fresh water in rockwool. No nutrients till the plant has some leaves and roots, and then I give fresh transfers 1EC witch is the same as 500ppm. That’s a good temp and ph is good 5.5 is ideal but I’ve done as low as 3.3 Ph or 7 Ph it’s just some phosphorus is more soluble in lower ph. When you say hydroponic system what is the grow media is it a little bit of soil to start the seed or something similar, are you putting it in clay pebbles in a net pot. It’s most likely not the seeds you could be drowning them I’m not sure what the grow media is but I recommend rockwool. Lemme just link you the video a lot of my vidoes can help show you more what works for me and how. “How I start any kind of seed with Rock wool for my indoor hydroponic farm at home” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gaqpnsiXyrnRmn0.html

@blessisrael6455 10 күн бұрын
@@DitchTheFlock They look gorgeous……. Unfortunately, the energy rates has tripled so I’m trying to simplify; I’m confused about the nutrients and PPM; what NPK ratio do you use for strawberries ? Masterblend strawberry is 9-12-34, so for little runners/transplants, typically they use a 1/3rd of full dosage…. 500PPM is 1/2g ? Do you add Cal-Mag or any other extra element to your strawberries ? And how much do you use for your large strawberry plants ? Thanks ; )

That’s very specific? My wife isn’t in that much of the content or for very long. We live in the desert it’s very hot that’s how we both dress. The videos have nothing to do with her body and are literally all about plants. It’s pretty dumb you think I’d care to show her off for views. Don’t you think the content would be centered around that more. Why do people comment like you is the real question, what is the point? You would really have to be thick in the head to claim my KZfaq channel is centered around her body
