How to Grow Mangosteen Seeds: Step-by-Step instructions (मैंगोस्टीन के बीज उगाएं)
Mangosteen is a tropical fruit native to Southeast Asia. Its exact origins are unknown due to its widespread cultivation since ancient times. It grows mainly in Southeast Asia, southwest India, the Philippines, and other tropical areas such as Colombia, Puerto Rico and Florida. The tree grows from 6 to 25 m (19.7 to 82.0 ft) tall. Scientific name: Garcinia mangostana

If you have yellow try blending with sugar into a smoothie, the sugar takes the bitterness away. Then let it sit for five minutes, turn into a custard type texture and is a great desert

I dried the slime with a piece of paper towel and was able to get both layers of brown off in about a minute👍🏼

You can scrub the rest of the pulp rubbing them on a sheet and then after that with the nails taking the bark away.

Rinsing with water was OK for the outer part, but was not enough for the brown coating, so I had to use my fingernails. YMMV!

I don’t know why, by a combination of factors, I did a deal with a local hospital, to get the ash and clinker from their incinerator. I collect it twice a month, take it home and put it in a pile, leave it until there is a sizeable pile. I then put the ash and clinker through a “mill” I originally made for gemstones and crush it up to very small pieces. I let the stuff dry naturally and add it in layers to my compost heaps. The plants I grow from that compost almost jump out of the ground, I mean huge, fast, fruitful, flowering crazy, everything. I think if I put a broom handle in that stuff, it would take root and spring out of the ground.

Would love to see an update on your mangosteen trees! I live in Allenstown, New Hampshire and i bought a lemondrop mangosteen, and a purple mangosteen tree sapling from a grower through amazon and they're growing indoors but very slowly! Any tips on the care for these trees?

Sorry but I gave the seedlings away. Try and keep them as warm and humid as possible. Good luck growing them in such a "challenging" climate!

What soil did you use to plant the seeds? It is winter here and the weather is cold. At what temperature should I store the seeds? Is it possible to sow the seeds directly in the soil from the beginning?

Glad you enjoyed the video. I got the seeds from the fruit! They need a tropical or subtropical climate where it NEVER freezes, so I guess it depends where the live in AZ. The seeds have limited viability and cannot be dried or stored for very long, I've read just a few days! - so it's best to get them from the fruit itself, if possible.

It took me like 15 mins to peel 4 seeds.. 😄 before seeing your vid i already planted some directly in the soil with all the flesh attached.. Lucky i still had some more so i peeled those.. Tbh i have more successful germination on the unpeeled seeds.. 3/3 unpeeled are now small plants.. 1 of them has 4 leaves now and is about a foot tall the other were bit slow but i recently repotted and separated them so they'll grow more.. With the peeled seeds i think i got 2/4.. 1 has 4 leaves but isn't as big as the other one.. And the 2nd one got a bit retarded but i was able to revive it.. It was still sprouting new tiny leaves last time i saw it..

Update: I followed what you did on the video and it worked! Im so thankful because honestly I forgot about them already coz I got so busy then I checked this morning and omg! I started it oct. 3 and now is nov. 11 and It's still alive im so happy! I have 12 seeds and all of them sprouted. stems are about 3-5 inches long with tiny leaves on each tip. I'm surprised it survived that long! Amazing plant! Thanks for your help sir!

There are no male trees. "Mangosteen is apomictic plant, which means that female trees produce fruit without pollination". www.softschools.com/facts/plants/mangosteen_facts/1843/

If you are using a tight Ziploc bag or other closed container, you should not need to add any water. Maybe check once a week. Keep it moist, but not saturated.

Since mangosteen trees can grow to about 30 or 40 feet, you'll want a large container if growing your tree in one.

The seeds need to be super fresh; I believe they are only viable for a few days. How are you obtaining the seeds? You are using a hot house? No doubt it's going to very difficult in a cool, non-tropical environment.

@@stokermeister3 My thoughts/suggestions. Mangosteen season is May-June here in SE Asia, so purchasing seeds during this time period is probably best. The seller would need to process the seeds *immediately* and send them to you 2-3 day express. You would have to germinate them *immediately* in an environment that's 20C minimum, though 25+C would be better. YMMV!

Yes, 2-3 weeks to sprout. The method I demonstrate in the video worked for me - plz read my notes in the description. Fresh fruit, fresh seeds, warm temps. Best of luck!

After 6-8 years, the mangosteen should begin producing 100 to 200 fruits per year. Older trees will produce 500 - 1,000 fruits.

You can also soak them in water overnight. Usually gets everything out.

Sorry to hear you're having problems. If you're using the moist paper towel method, make sure all your materials are thoroughly sterilized. You can also try planting them directly in soil instead.

Did you remove that inner brown coating per 01:07? Anyway, I suggest you simply lay them flat and cover with a thin layer of soil; the seeds will take care of themselves. I also recommend placing your starter pot in a closed bag, or tie a bag over it, to maintain a high moisture content and humidity level. Great to hear your seeds germinated. I don't know what size starter containers you are using, but I'd suggest leaving your seedlings grow for another month, or so, or until they become root bound.
