You don’t always have enough milk and sometimes you do need to worry. Talk to your doctor if you are worried you aren’t producing enough milk, please don’t just assume that you will make more/enough or that your baby is “just fussy”....I ended up having Sheehans and my milk would have never been enough and I DID need to worry....

When you barely produce an ounce of breast milk after pumping for 30 minutes, yeah, you need to worry since it’s not enough to satiate baby.

@@Acsana some people don't respond to the pump. I produce plenty but if I pump I only get 1 ounce between both breast. Seeking a lactation consultant is so crucial.

This video was so helpful! I had to learn to hand-express when my lil babe was 14 months because I got a really clogged pore and had to stop nursing from one side for a few days. I was totally trying to slide my hand down, this makes so much more sense!

Listening to this the second time around made me feel so emotional! 38 weeks pregnant here with baby number 2 and second pregnancy has been horrific. Right after my csection the nurse asked if I could express a little, thanks to you I was able to on my first try! The nurse said I made it look easy. Baby latched right away and we've been nursing strong for 5 weeks now ❤

I am 7 weeks ppd. My milk really never came in because my child was tongue tied! So about 2 weeks ago I started just pumping - only getting 1 to 1.5 oz per side ish - I will pump an hour. Can I increase milk at 7 ppd

Just gave birth to our 1st and she's on IVs for low blood sugar. Even though we cant breast feed directly Im grateful to be able to express and still provide her nutrients while she stabilizes. This info is so helpful in getting the most I can! Reminder to myself and other mommas to take breaks and dont overexert yourself, a little goes a long way and youre doing a great job!

I struggled a lot with nursing baby #1. Although I went on to breastfeed for over 2 years, we went through every issue including mastitis, tongue tie, nursing strikes, supply issues. Baby #2 is now 4 months and we've had zero issues. And she is super chubby. All this to say, I hope you have this experience the second time around too!

I just wanna thank you for you labor breath workouts. It helped me so much with my birth 3 years ago❤😊 did the moo breath and not even long the head was out😅 when the nurse got to me she told me to hold on❤ 😂rushed me tp the delivery room within 5 minute he was out. All natural birth😊

My baby was in the NICU for over two weeks right after birth. I ended up being so busy and preoccupied that I kept missing my two hour mark for pumping throughout the day, and now my milk supply is suffering. It’s depressing and I feel so frustrated.

I personally found using a manual pump or Haakaa to be a lot more easier for me and although some droplets got stuck of the sides that I couldn’t collect, I’d still get about 5-8 1ml syringes per session which I thought was more than enough

Sometimes I see pictures of women expressing for like 15 min and getting 3 ml and I express so much longer and maybe get .1 in a sitting. 37 weeks but not going to give up. Thanks for the video

When should one start hand expression milk in third trimester? And if one starts early in third trimester then i am assuming one will have to freeze colostrum after each milk express session,therefore assuming will end up with lot of colustrum syringes. How many colustrum syringes should one aim for before delivery. Thanks!

I’m 32 weeks. When should I start doing this? This is my third baby, and while I have always been able to breast feed for the first four months, my supply drops sharply after that. I’ve been trying to find strategies to keep my supply up this whole pregnancy.

Thank you for your videos! How can I give my baby breast milk in a bottle without risking her later rejecting my breast? I’m using Comotomo bottle. I am now exclusively breastfeeding after having to formular feed the first week of life because of low milk supply. I had a hard time having my baby leave the bottle and now I’m scared to pump and give it to her in a bottle.

If you freeze the colostrum, what is the safest way to bring it back to a liquid/how early should it be taken out of the freezer?

Could you also remove the plunger from the syringe and catch the milk directly into the syringe? That method would require you to put the plunger back on, flip the syringe over so the air is at the pointy end, and push the excess air out. You might lose a bit of milk when you push the air out, but I think it would be less than transferring the milk from the spoon.

I've been trying to hand express for a week now and only getting 1 drop 2 at the most with every try. So much harder than I thought it would be. And that's after an hour of trying. Can't get anything at all out my left boob either only out my right.

Thank you so much. I was expressing to relieve engorgement but pulling toward the nipple instead of squeezing the fingers together....what a difference! How can I feed my baby the extra milk so I don't waste it without causing nipple confusion or impacting supply?

Use the hospitals lactation consultants if baby hasn’t come yet! They are super helpful.

39+1 ftm here! Wanted to induce labor so tried hand expressing couple days ago and I was amazed that it was coming out! I was keep squeezing to get the most out of it for good 30min. I think. Now I feel the sides of my boob are bruised.. is this okay?

I’m 39+3 and my colostrum has never been thick, it’s always been quite watery but sticky. And it’s a very clear/pale yellow colour... is that normal? I thought it was normal but you’re saying colostrum is thick so I’m questioning if there’s something wrong with mine 👀

I believe like many things dealing with the human body, some variation is completely normal. If you're concerned talk to your ob or a lactation consultant.

Everyone's milk is different! Colostrum before birth is sometimes that white-ish color and then as you start getting more mature milk it will likely turn to a thick yellow color! I wouldn't worry, but if you can't stop thinking about it, talk to a health care professional who you're already working with!

I've read that nipple simulation can also induce labor and its supposed to be pretty effective or something. I'm no professional though that was like online reading.

It can help with oxytocin release which is the hormone that causes the uterus to contract so it definitely plays a part :)

It might be due to your diet- everyone's milk looks a bit different!

I seem to make mad amounts of colostrum, around 3ml a session, I started at 36 weeks and I have about 30 full syringes. I'm high risk so taking it to hospital with me, but can I make use of all my other syringes after? Is it possible to just add alongside feeds every day after birth? Or save for if baby has a cold in the future?

Yes using syringes the nurses gave me this very thin flexible straw to insert into the corner of baby's mouth while I was breast feeding. This supplemented my daughter's feeding and helped maintain her weight.

Not sure if this is still helpful but you could take it in a cooler and then use a finger feeder when needed
