I love having the manual balancer the most. I check the balance before I set the bead and often I can rotate the tire on wheel to get the balance super close if not almost right on with almost no weight.

For those of you who remember when American cars had bumper jacks. They were useful in breaking the tire off the wheel.

Mike, I had That same changer in my shop. I mounted mine to the shop floor with led inserts and lags in the cement ..loved it ..bubble balancing is the most accurate! Nascar still uses them. Keep up the great videos guys ! Love you both . Challis, Idaho... Bob

As a daily tire fitter, I enjoyed the video, I like the style, I would like to add.. MAKE SURE BOTH BEADS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE YOUR PRYING ON ARE IN THE DROP CENTER, you shouldn't have needed the extra screwdriver.

The 2nd part of the tire goes on much easier if you push the rubber past the drop point on the rim..

Mount it on an old rim with an unusable tire with cement in it with sturdy tires to handle the weight. Can still move it around shop but have the weight to keep it in place

I was going to say you could buy a tire mount and balance machine for a few grand each. But then I realized that you probably don't that often enough to justify the cost.

Using soapy water on the bead will eventually corrode the rim and start having rim leaks use bead sealer make sure you clean the rim!

Check to see if you have red or yellow dots on the tire that shows you where the weight should be in accordance with the valve stem
@jackedwards74202 жыл бұрын
Well.... 1.) You're using the tire tool wrong and the machine should be mounted to the floor to operate properly! I have the same machine and that bar will mount and dismount tires easily by using the other end and rotating around center shaft! 2.) Make sure the manufacturer's mark is lined up with valve stem to locate the lightest point of the tire correctly! 3.) That balancer MUST be rebranded each time you move it or you can get false readings, mine is permanently mounted to floor! 4.) Unless you have NO OTHER choice use hammer on weights! If you have to use glue on type make sure you clean the wheel with an abrasive pad to ensure good adhesion! The weights you put on will fly off in a few miles as you can't glue to dirt!! Again I have the same tire machine and balancer with 50 yrs experience with them!

...then yours must be a WICO, as HF hasn't been in business that long...
@jackedwards7420 Жыл бұрын
@@cameronduff884 I bought both of mine through JC Whitney 30 yrs ago and it is absolutely identical to the HF ones, probably the same mfr sells to all the discount vendors. I said I have 50 yrs experience with tires/machines. Another thing check for dirt dauber nests each use on the balancer as this will cause serious balancing issues!

Almost $200 now for 4 tires, mounting, balance, shop fees. Just paid that on top of the $$1100 for tires for a half ton truck. Getting more expensive fast.

I've got exactly this contraption. 100 bucks wasted! Have tried to break the bead in all possble settings. It slides, squashes the tyre flat but don't break the bead. After half hour it's just easier to have it done professionally.

You know if you put in on with the rim turned around it will go on easier thats that's how; why the rim has the angle on the inside of the rim so the tyre can move and slip on easier try it with the rim turned around next time

I don't consider that tire and wheel assembly to be balanced sure it is statically balanced but it is not dynamically balanced you're still going to have shakes and shimmies probably.

As a professional tire changer, I wouldn't say it that way, but as critical as it might be, the average DIYer might be better off not having his wife or kids cars as the first attempt, but the haywagon, boat trailer etc then okay.
