tips for bad body image days ✨
it's human to have days where you just can't seem to feel comfortable in your skin. More than that, it's almost inevitable with the amount of pressures surrounding us on what is considered to be "healthy" and "fit" (something that is incredible unique to each individual, much like our bodies are). This vlog may not be a formula to stop those days from happening, but it includes a lot of the mindsets and tools I find help me whenever I wake up on the wrong side of my bod.
Using these tips helps to bridge the gap back to feeling like a team with my body rather than an enemy to it. It also helps to remind myself the gift it is to experience my body and the lives we live through them.
If you have any similar related themes you'd like to see for future Fitness Friday videos, let me know 💛 It's my belief and intention that the more we normalize all shapes and all feelings/experiences that come with them, the less alone we feel going through these phases.
Sending you all the love and comfort in the world if you're having one of those days, weeks, months or years right now.

I have been struggling with this so much in the past 3 days. I suffer from major generalised anxiety and body dysmorphia. I had a huge panic attack 2 days ago because one of my triggers related to my body dysmorphia was activated. I couldn't look at myself in the mirror since the past 2 days and even archived all my Instagram posts because I couldn't handle looking at myself. This video means so much to me you have no idea. I almost cried looking at the title. Thank you so much for it💛 Sending you all the love I can muster all the way from India 🌼

My root: whenever i think poorly about my body i think of all the mums and the women who have to do physical work and i instantly start regarding my body as a team which is here to help me experience life..i take a step back from over sexualizing it and treat it like a little child

I’ve been following you for like 3 years now and I have to say that I’m super proud of you, because I can see that you’re always improving. I love that you talk about things that are so important (like body image, anxiety and even being sad), but that we should all talk more about. This week has been really hard for me emotionally, so I’ve been keeping up with your videos and they really lift me up. I love your vibe, you’re pure light and an inspiration 💗💗💗

I love how you mention thinking of yourself as a little girl. Sometimes when I feel anxious or bad about myself I look at pictures of myself when I was little and remember all the things my mom told me about who I was when I was little, before society got its hands on me. It's a powerful thing to do. I look at the little girl in those pictures who was bold and wild and silly and didn't think of my body in a negative way. My mom told me I was a boss from the time I was young and was also very free spirited. As an adult, anxiety controls a lot of aspects of my personality. I get an instinct to protect her (aka that version of myself). I should treat myself the way I would want her to be treated. It's a tool that I use that helps me stay grounded.

A root I love to use is „there is more than one body type that is beautiful“. You don’t need to be skinny, have tanned skin, an hourglass body or a six pack to be beautiful. The way we see beauty is relative to what we‘re used to seeing. Be brave enough to be your own kind of beautiful.

I think the *cute* part of the comfy outfit makes a huge difference for me. If I’m having a hard day with my body image and then I dress in something like a raggedy old ugly T-shirt, I’m subconsciously telling myself I’m not good enough in this state to wear the things that make me happy and make me feel pretty and good in my body. I still struggle with this and I’ve been in eating disorder recovery since 2012-still trying to learn I’m enough at any moment with this body. I’m so thankful for you sharing your experiences and how you’re healing and loving yourself. I’ve recently moved into these beautiful woods and I have my favorite lake in my backyard and I’ve deleted my instagram app for now. It’s helpful for me to walk out to the lake and sit and let myself question all those negative thoughts about myself and where they come from and if they are lies and if they are true, why do I have a negative feeling about them, then end with using all my senses to take in the beauty of the lake and Mother Nature in front of me. Also, reminding myself this body has and is getting me through so much-a global pandemic, abuse, rape, depression, anxiety, a chronic health condition- my body is doing the best it can for me at all times and I love it for doing whatever it can to try to keep me alive and safe. Bonus, a little mantra- “my body is this way today, and today only, I will decide to be grateful and love it and treat it with kindness.”

I actually cried when you got to the part where you name things our bodies do for us, like it’s regenerating, fighting diseases, that we are a team, wow! 😭 That really did it for me. I just need to remind myself of it and be grateful for everything my body has done, does and will do for me. ♥️

I am so glad you said "your purpose is not to be appealing to other people" because I feel like what body positivity gets wrong A LOT is framing beauty or sex appeal as the most important. Yes, beauty is important. But beauty is its own trap and way of minimizing people, especially women. It is really important to love ourselves by not finding a new way to validate ourselves through the eyes of other people, but to recognize our value goes so far beyond that.

A request for fitness Friday: how to eat healthier, in a more mindful way. I know I am overweight, and I want to find my healthy weight, but I eat too much junk food and can’t find a way to transition to healthier foods but still be mindful about it and non restrictive. Thank you for all the content Kalyn!!! 💙

I’ve always been super skinny, but since quarantine started in March, I’ve gained about 7 pounds (combination of stress, less exercise, and comfort eating). I’ve been really down about myself lately because I started to notice the weight gain on my waistline. So yeah, I could use a video like this right now.

I have started working out recently and it has included a lot of pushing myself and feel my body at a deeper level. I would not say its a 'root' but I generally feel, during the day, grateful for what my body can provide me with, the movement, the thrill, the endorphins, I have started seeing my body as something that aids my wellbeing and my happiness and my functioning rather than something for others to look at or has the only role of being sexualised. Just like you said your body and you are a TEAM

I had to pause this one a couple times to let myself cry for a bit... I realized I don't have any conscious childhood memories of me feeling at home in my body. I can track back to some of my first memories and remember my thoughts being tainted with judgement for my body. I never realized just how long my body has been waiting for me to love and accept it.... " Don't abandon yourself". This really pinpointed feelings and emotions I never realized I had. When I start feeling off, I just try to escape the feelings, but I wouldn't leave a friend if they just told me the same thing. I would just sit with them and listen... Thank you for never ceasing to evoke the thoughts I need to have with myself. My guru, my vibe setter, my queen😆✨💛

The root of remembering what it was like when you were a little girl did not help me at all it actually made me feel worse because I was always fat since the day I was born, and as a kid I was bullied by my own family so I always felt ugly and fat and wanted to be invisible.. when I see an old photograph of me I find that I was actually very very pretty.. but no one ever told me I was.. it would have made a hell of a difference..

For me, I've struggled with being slim. When I became engaged with ED as a teenager, it was for a more unusual reason: I thought I was going to find a community that loved and accepted my body, since the environment I live in treasures more curvy women. I was wrong. What I found was that I was not slim enough to even feel like I belonged in that ED space, and I started to see myself as too big. Fast-forward to adulthood, I struggle in my intimate relationships because I feel that my body is not sexy and that I'm not a real women. This video helped a bit today, which is enough and I'm okay with that. I can't really find that self-love yet, even after so long and so much work, but I will be okay with that today. Thank you and I hope others here can find that too.

Thank you for this video......ever since quarantine and lock down started I have been having major body image issues. I am upset the vast majority of my wardrobe doesn't fit, and I feel I have let myself go so badly. But I recently started the couch to 5K programme and I am on run 3 of week six and slowly but surely things are starting to fit me. But I still have a loong way to go before I get there.....but at least I am now making progress. But this video is full of great tips and I have saved it to use whenever I need a little pick me up

I woke up with my soul crumbling after a long weekend with friends feeling completely insecure. This is my first morning back and I got the notification for this beautiful video. Thank you 💛 truly. I needed this. Could you also tell us the best places to shop for clothes? I would love to treat myself to clothes that I feel comfortable and cute! Xo ✨
