Am I the only one that thinks the bracket should be 3-6 inches past the width of the window on each side to allow the curtains to reveal the entire window plus some trim? Wouldn’t placing the bracket right above or at the window edge will make the window look smaller?

Also, those curtain panels should be twice as wide as the ones they are using.

I’m sick and tired of videos recommending hardware that may last a few months if you’re lucky or, like these comments also agree, place brackets into studs immediately above the window frame, thus covering half your window with the curtains when open. You need to place the brackets at least 6 inches outside window frame where you will not find a stud. You need the toggle bolts or ez anchor toggles for drywall.

I have a sliding door panel that is 105" × 105" in a livingroom with 12' ceiling. Should I hang the curtain all the way up? Or just 4~6" above the door frame? I plan to have s-wave style with two layers (sheer + room darkening) or one light filtering, with "kiss" length.

How do you get the measurements from rod to floor so that you don't have high-watering curtains or pooling curtains if you JUST want traditional rod pocket curtains on a rod just SLIGHTLY above the window and covering baseboard to skim the floor? Same with sill length, skimming the sill? Seems everybody likes that high curtain look and/or curtain rings nowadays. Rod pockets differ in size/diameter nowadays. Pole rods differ in diameter too. And don't get me started on grommets and curtain rings. I'm old-fashioned and just want the traditional hanging style, but with all these factors coming into play to have curtains skim the sill or floor...differing pole rod diameters, differing rod pocket diameters, curtain rings, grommets, the difficulty finding 72" curtains anymore (my biggest disappointment)... I'm totally confused. I'm also doing this alone, which doesn't give me much confidence. Any tips??? Please, dad?

Stub is the wood pieces in the wall. U can also go buy a stud finder at the store.

I'm wondering how to hang curtains in my house.... everyone says to make your space look bigger to go with floor length, however I am in Canada and there is the issue that 3 of my main windows have baseboard heaters below them. Not looking to start a fire (they can get super hot especially midwinter). Any ideas?

Could I just share for those with the kind of rods that are two rods that fit together for the particular length of your window: First, put up the curtain rod without the curtains, and where the two fit together, use a piece of scotch tape to hold them together. Then, from then on, when you have to take off your curtains to wash them, you KNOW that all you have to do it just put them on that rod, and you know that rod will fit perfectly, no tugging every time....:)

Really good vid. Dad comes in as great supporting role. Question: Curtains come in standard sizes. I have a 7’ window and to ceiling is 9’. If I drop 3” down I’ll have to hem them. If I go with 8’ curtains then I won’t have to hem but I won’t be 3” from the top. So I’m leaning towards the longer ones and hemming them. Thoughts?

You can also add rings to the top of the curtains and that gets you an extra 2-4" of length. Also 3" from the ceiling is not a hard rule, and if you have any heat vents along the floor/baseboards you'll want those uncovered.

The rod is too short. Curtains are not supposed at all to cover even the sides of the window when the curtains are open.

He didn't win the lottery, you always have a stud next to the window. lookup jack stud, king stud, and window header and you'll see how a window is always framed.
