My question is...when you say use acrylic and polyurethane and acrylic, so it doesn't yellow, what is that exact step. Did you mix them and then brush it on or did you do them separately? Also what kind of acrylic and polyurethane did you use?

Thanks for this. I am going to re-do a cultured marble bathroom vanity and was looking for a more subtle finish than the dark highly contrasted finish techniques that are out there. This will be perfect! Do you know if I can incorporate some of the latex paint (in the color of the bathroom) into the veins? Would latex work alongside the acrylic? I would like to try the Envirotex lite coating.

Hi I have been watching your video over and over again . That is so cleverand beautiful!!! also searching for something else that would work for my kitchen project i am planning to do. I have a question about base coats and top coats. First as a base you did use a Xim primer and than again kiltz? And for ty he top coat you said to put polyurethane with acril. You mix them or put one after another.

Hi Danika! Thank you for your video. Your work is beautiful! I’m at a lost because I’m trying to complete the same effect but I can’t seem to achieve it. I primed (4x for a solid uniform coat of Killz) and then painted 2 coats of egg shell white wall paint to get good coverage). I started with an artist’s brush (round pointed tip) and used a 3 inch angled ultra soft brush (I should have used a flat brush). I dabbed the paint to feather it but since it’s a angled brush I used the longest tip and it started to fan out as I dabbed. And now my veins are really wide and the grey paint I used is too dark. Right now, it just looks 2 dimensional. I don’t have any depth to it and it looks almost ‘zebra’ like. Can you make any recommendations? I love your technique and results but it’s definitely advanced for someone like me. I do plan on painting one layer of thinned out white paint to light everything up. Way too zebra like right me. But I need help with add more depth. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
@danikaherrick
@danikaherrick 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! The beauty of this technique is that it’s just paint. Sometimes mistakes actually make great texture and undertones. What I would do is get a good feathering brush, that makes all the difference in the world. Next I would take some base color white and use a sea sponge to lightly cover areas that are too heavy feeling and lighten up dark spots (feather these sponges areas to soften). Marble looks best when there are lots of layers, it creates depth, so think of it like a happy accident. Don’t think too hard about it, just use the white like an eraser when you feel it’s too heavy, feather often and step away when you get frustrated. I’m not sure how large your surface is, but it also helps to have a picture of marble to reference and map your area out based on that. Lighten up your current surface and use that as a new background for the new veins. If your current veins feel too dark, add more white to the glaze to lighten the grey. You will be surprised by how much depth you will have. I hope this helps, it does take a little practice and the main thing is not to think too hard. Keep me posted!

@@danikaherrick Thank you for your reply, Danika! I'm using a Wooster Ultra Soft 3 inch angle brush. Is there a brush you recommend?
