How to Hard Boil an Egg
In this video, I show you how to hard boil an egg;
Add eggs to pan.
Add enough water to cover the eggs.
Turn on burner to high.
Wait for the water to get to a rolling boil.
Turn off heat, and cover the pan.
Let sit for 12 minutes.
I also show you how to cleanly peel a hard boiled egg;
Put eggs in water.
Gently crack the shell all the way around by tapping it in the water.
Let stand for at least 5 minutes.
Start to peel the egg and look for the membrane underneath the shell.
Once you locate it, tear it then submerge the egg back in the water to try to get the water in between the membrane and the egg.
Slowly work the shell off with your finger between the membrane and the egg.
Voila!

Hi, dad. I suffer from major depression and it has been difficult trying to keep on fighting. Your videos, however, have kept me occupied and distracted from my thoughts even if it’s for a brief moment. So I wanted to say thank you for everything you’ve done for me. We’ve never met in person but the positivity that you radiate through your videos is enough to comfort me temporarily. So thank you.

I use to do them this way, then I saw a chef on tv saying to not put the eggs in the water until the water is boiling. I use a slotted spoon to set them in the boiling water, then he said to let them boil in there for 10 minutes. Then remove them and put them straight in an ice bath. They come out perfect every time and easy to peel. I just made a dozen this morning.

I've been "boiling" eggs for over fifty years; tried several ways of doing it, with varying degrees of success. Most folks simmer them for fifteen to twenty minutes, leaving the surface of the yokes green (and disgusting.) Several years ago, I discovered the best way is to STEAM them! Put about an inch of H2O in a pot and bring it to a boil. Place the eggs in a steamer rack (basket, or whatever) and lower 'em into the pot. Immediately lower the temperature to medium-low, cover the pot and set your timer for thirteen to fifteen minutes (it'll take a couple of tries to determine exactly how long); my usual time is 14 1/2 minutes for a solid yoke with no green. Then into ice water for about two or three minutes. I usually crack the shell with a knife handle (or scissors handle) and put them back in the ice bath. I usually peel them under running water; DO get under the membrane, and the shell will peel away easily. I usually place them in a refrigerator bowl with a dry paper towel (which WILL get damp.) With a tight cover, they'll usually last five or six days. Only takes a minute or two to bring that small amount of water to boil; much lower amount of electricity to cook 'em.

Not to be rude, but you look like the light is leaving you, please don't take on the pain of everyone, you're such a beacon, they're just venting and finding someone who sees them. Your mere presence is healing, some people can't be pulled out of their storm by you alone, you can only do what you're doing. You help find solutions by donating to charities and programs that can offer assistance to those who seek them out. Sending you big love and bright light, my son used to take on your role with the kids around here. His favorite lines from you are, hi kids! And I'm so proud of you! Hey Dad, if you use older eggs they peel easier. Also if you start at the wide end there is an air sack there and its easier to peel under the membrane. Another trick to use is to steam your eggs. Yes, steam them. On a steamer rack, place your cold (right from the fridge eggs), directly into a steamer basket placed inside a pot of boiling water. Cover and time for 13 minutes for hard cooked yolks (large sized eggs). Them remove from the basket and plunge into an ice water bath. Tap, turn, and gently crush the shells to get them to start coming off. Let them sit for a few minutes to cool and help contract the membrane and it will slide off the egg.

I freaking LOVE boiled eggs and when I realized I could cook them in 5 mins in my Instant Pot I was so giddy 😂 Also, if you cook them for 4 mins the yolk is a little softer, more creamy textured. I personally don't like it but my husband loves it and cooks his that way. He discovered it because he thought I said 4 mins instead of 5 to hard boil them.

It only takes 3 minutes to boil water and about 9 minutes for the egg to boil, I use coffee pot (the one that goes on a stove and not the electric pot) and put 2 eggs with some vinegar just in case they crack it doesn't make them smell as bad. just let the eggs boil for 8-10 minutes and put them in cold water and they're ready. I like to mash them with a fork and mix them with olive oil and soy sauce, put olive oil before mashing them so you don't make a mess
