Wondering "why are my dreams so blurry"? If you're dealing with blurry dreams, or blurry lucid dreams, then today's video should help you have more vivid dreams instead!

I've always used the CPU/GPU-rendering analogy, myself. I usually tend to wake up when I attempt flying in lucid dreams because my brain can't render all the complex terrain (city, buildings etc.) that I expect to see. Sometimes terrain starts scrolling by, but then everything will go into this black void which I will float in for 10 seconds before waking up. It's like clockwork. As soon as I see the black void, I know I only have 10 seconds before the dream is over. I realized I could mitigate this somewhat by trying to fly lower to the ground, where there were less details for my brain to "render" and it worked!

Funnily enough I do the exact same thing when I fly most of the time! I also will prefer to fly over landscapes than over cities/towns because they tend to be less cluttered and so "easier to render". I got the idea from my first flying lucid dream - because the very first time I flew up in the air it looked just like how it looks if you noclip out of bounds in a game like CS, where all the stuff you'd see from the ground was rendered, but all of the walls/objects outside of the map that you wouldn't normally see were just black empty space.

Do you think some people’s brains may just be better at “rendering” more things in a dream? Or can it be improved with practice? Because i feel like i have a very limited ability to visualise things in my head and this sort of seems to apply to my dreams too. When i try to focus on a specific thing i almost always wake up immediately.

Yeah I have the same problem, but very rarely I get pretty vivid dreams

I think it can absolutely be improved with practice - and I don't think it's directly limited by your ability to mentally visualise things, because the majority of people with aphantasia still dream in full detail.

Just returning to lucid dream trying to find other of your videos by searching on the yt bar and I find this one! How do you recommend to write the dreams? Like I need to write every single detail of the scenery and characters?

The more detail the more you can remember. Find a balance that works for you. It should be enough that when reading it, you can remember those other details that you didn't explicitly record.

^ Couldn't have said it better myself, the only thing I'll add is that I like to start with a super brief summary for each dream and then add detail for them afterwards. That way if I remember say 7 different dreams, I don't forget half of them during the process of writing the earlier ones down. Instead I get a 1-2 sentence summary written for all 7, and then I flesh them out after, to avoid any of them slipping out of memory.
