I start with the bends as that is usually where the highest heat concentration is on the 1/1.

Yes, but the Alclad paint dries very fast so by the time I'm read for the next color it is dry enough to paint.

What did you use for the black vase coat?

The gloss black base coat was also Alclad.

What is the Hot Metal Violet? And did you coat the whole header with it?

That is an Alclad color. I only hit the curves, not the whole header. It is meant highlight or accent the burnt metal look.
