How can I get to Show *VIEW CODE* when I Right Click on Tab I don't get it when I Right Click on Tab :( Please

Seems that the key to this working is the VBA code mentioned at the end, which requires saving as a .xlsm (Excel Macro-Enabled Workbook). When I went to save it normally, it popped up some window talking about disabling auto-save that I didn't really understand. The target.calculate basically triggers a recalculation when a different cell is selected, aka when you click on it. Otherwise it wouldn't highlight a row unless you manually refresh for example.

you can use =OR(ROW()=CELL("row"), COLUMN()=CELL("col")) to create a cross effect on the selected cell by highlighting both the entire row and the entire column.

@@prjk4531 Hi, if you get an error while trying to copy pase the code, it might be that you have to replace the , with ; before COLUMN, i think this has to do with your language settings!

This is a great feature and I did implement it; however, now my data entry lags. After I enter data and hit Enter, it doesn't move to the next cell. I have to wait for it to do it on its own after that. Is that a common issue once you use this feature?

thanks! seriously hard to believe that Microsoft hasn't created a toggle/button to do this automatically as it really is useful if you have more than 4-5 columns. I dont really like that i now need to save any sheet that i do this to as a macro enabled worksheet with a different extension .xlsm)....but i guess thats the trade-off.

For me I figured out that I was using a shortcut to that file. However when I saved it as a macro enabled file that created a new file. So for me it was just figuring out I was accidentally opening my original file.

If you are using Excel in another language than English you must use the "translated" formula names. For example in French, you must type: =LIGNE()=CELLULE("ligne"). It won't work with : =row()=cell("row"). The VBA code does not change however.

Unfortunately Google Sheets and Excel doesn't always work the same way, even with simple functions. There might be a specific tutorial out there for Sheets.

If you want to highlight a cell instead of row you can use this code =AND(CELL("row")=ROW(), CELL("col")= COLUMN())

I complete the whole first step the same as showed, but it doesn't highlight anything. Anyone know why? I do have a fill colour given and there are no other codes, so I can't be overruled. It doesn't even work for me when I try it in a new blank save file. Would love some help, thanks!

Everything works right up to the time you click on the second cell, all the ones after that stay the same color, not the one picked, they stay white.

Yes thats possible, highlight only the column and row that you wish to be highlighted then .. use the formula =cell("row")=row() instead. Then on the view code use activecell.calculate, and save it using Microsoft Excel Macro-Enable Workbook(*.xlsm)

Darn, no matter how many tries, trying to duplicate perfectly... it does not highlight at all. Also "[ or ]" are "brackets" You use parenthesis "(..or...) does excel change their names?

It stop working once you close and open again the file. It works but only when I edit the cell. Just select the cell not working anymore. Macros are enabled.
