My brother and I hike Camelback Mountain via Echo Canyon regularly, so we thought it would be good to show all the sections of the trail.

Looks easier than Cholla!

Yeah I’d say it is. Maybe more technical though.

I used to hike Camelback quite regularly, but it had been about 10 years and I hiked it with some family in 2019 - wow, tougher than I had remembered, but so worth it!

Definitely agree, it doesn’t get any easier!

@@lifehiker It's definitely amazing to have a hike like that right within city limits!

Coming down in some sections is harder than going up.

Arc'teryx Venta but there are other (cheaper) options out there.

How do you get to that arch/red rock area at the end?

Easiest way is on the way back down from the summit you’ll notice a smaller mass shaped like a lizard head. Go towards that safely and where it makes sense.

I want to do this so badly but I’m such a super slow hiker/walker I’m afraid people would get mad at me. Yes, of course, I’d get out of their way. But still. I’m more afraid of people than Camelback. lol

I’ve never encountered people getting mad or impatient at other people’s pace. There’s usually space to get around people when needed.

I do want to add, I would only be concerned about a slower hiker when it comes to sun/heat exposure. If you’re too long on the mountain on a hot day that can be deadly. Better to start early and if it gets too hot then turn around.

Don’t let that stop you, do your own thing at your own pace. If you think Camelback is too much, try Hole in the Rock at Papago , or Hieroglyphics Trail I’m the Superstitions. Both extremely good hiking in beautiful areas. Still intimidated maybe try one of the canals thru out the valley, or even Indian Bend Wash. As short or as long a walk as you feel comfortable. At almost 60 there is nothing more enjoyable than a nice hike. Well, ripping around the desert on a dirtbike, but give hiking a shot first.
