An old Icelander here. Thank you for this video. On Saturday morning (it's Thirsday now) I will be going to Landmannalaugar to start this trail. Even if I'm a 70 year old Icelander, I have never taken a highland hike like this before. I hope this will get me going more in the future.

Great info here but an update: Reykjavik Excursions no longer offers a "Hiking Pass." It continues to offer daily bus transportation to and from Landmannalagur, Thorsmork and Skogar, but you must purchase separate tickets for each leg of the journey. TREX continues to offer a Hiking Pass option. Each carrier has significantly increased its pricing over the 2020 figures quoted in the video.

Glad you pointed this out. It seems prices have almost tripled since 2020. On top of this, the ride back is around 10 hours long because you're on a tour bus that makes stops.

Absolutely the most informative video on the hike I've seen. To the point with no extra crap....loved it! So it took you 2 nights and 3 days. I plan to continue on with the next section for some extra distance. Heck, I might as well since I'm flying all the way there. 😀 What time of the year were you there? I didn't look like you needed Microspikes or similar? I'm glad to see there's some food along the way. Thanks again.
