Really helpful video Google Huge thanks! Sending it to all current and potential clients. I've been following all these guidelines since I started some 7 years ago. And I'm in the camp that it's time to change the term SEO. Now you have to go beyond the website to all online properties and get them synchronize with the companies brand. You have to go further still in terms of content making it semantically relevant, create content for specific stages of the buyer's journey, create content that speaks directly to the ideal customer, etc. Ranking in the top of the SERP's results does not guarantee the best leads or customers for the client.

I just learned of their YT channel for Webmasters.. this is fantastic channel for companies, as many do not invest in SEO.

Awesome Video I do these exact things with all my client! :) could you guys do a video on the difference of SEO and ADS? I run across many potential clients who shun SEO because they assume im talking of ads. This is because you have many people soliciting themselves as an SEO but they run ads on clients and implement some of the shady practices you had mentioned. They do nothing for their web site or true nature of the the business and online experiance. I think a video that shows the main differences would be awesome and help many people out to understanding you can't buy SEO from and advertisement? I only recommend ads if a client wants to boost revenue on specific services or products.

No black hit will work now a days. Ranking is a slow process it will take 4 to 7 months to rank an old domain with my experience

What about creating good content? But seems that's not good enough. Now as content creators we're forced to spend money to hire a SEO person. Soon, only big companies can keep up with Google's requirements. All the small creators like this will disappear. Support your small content creators! It's in your own interest.

Would you please answer my question. How come if I take a paragraph (30 words or so) from a very original PDF I made 7 years ago (100% from scratch), my site is nowhere to be found on Google results. Other PDF's come up with loosely similar topics, in general obscure scientific journal papers. If I instead search a whole page (200 or so words including the title of the article), a couple of sites (including Scribd.com) that stole and published the whole PDF from me (having my name and blog URL printed on each and every page) come up on first page of Google? If SEO isn't black magic, why am I wizard?

Taking SEO out of the realm of "black magic" is exactly right - for two reasons: 1. it separates the wheat from the chaff in the field of SEO providers, by requiring that the 'what' is explained in detail (and revealing the puffery in offerings from black-magic specialists); 2. the 'what' involves a lot of grunt work, justifying the 4 - 12 months suggested in the video. No need to pretend there's magic involved... so if your SEO won't elaborate, or it doesn't make sense to you, don't hire them.

SEO “potential is only as high as the quality of your business or website” .... Wrong! You guys are way too full of yourselves. There will always be people that can "buy there way" to achievement. SEO is like PR. If you spend crazy money you will buy your way to amazing press EVEN if your biz is not so great. And, please google stop talking about "shady SEO." SEO hasn't been shady for over a decade. You all are promoting that stereotype. I'm going to write an article about this video. Disappointed in you all after watching this!

Good video, however in most cases SEO clients are looking for the quick fix and/or cheapest methodology of SEO. Also, this video gives the viewer the impression that SEO is set it and forget it.
