Hi. I’m from 7 years in the future. I watched this video this morning, then went to the driving range this afternoon. It clicked. I was able to draw on demand, switch to fades, then back to draws. Thank you so very much. I can’t wait to hit the course.

I just wanted to pop on and say I watched this video then went out to my back yard with my pitching wedge and almost immediately started hitting beautiful draws. Started out with foam practice balls so my dog could shuck them if they went off course but after just a few shots I was able to dial them in then switched to real golf balls. Funny enough I baisically reversed everything you said and was able to start playing nice fades too! This video changed my game for sure. Can’t wait to apply it to the course on Saturday

Fairplay, I didn't really give you a chance but after watching this video you've helped me massively, I've seen videos from Mark Crossfield, Rick shiels etc etc and couldn't really grasp the "draw" shot but I have with you........I'm no Dustin yet but to see my first proper draw which I played for today was great and it's sunk in. The one key point which is the best point and I've only seen you say this "small scale first" IT WORKS. Thankyou very much, Patrick from U.K Wales

I've returned to golf after a 33-year hiatus, and I've been playing again for 3 months. I've been really working on this and realising the subtle difference to the face closure as you go up and down the clubs. It's crazy how much you have to close the face for the driver. I find it's got to be closed all the way to 11 O'Clock for me, but I've also come to realise that it changes as my swing develops. It's obviously a constant work in progress...

Thousand ways to hit a draw. I concur with the hands, but when we amateurs focus on small muscles like hands and arms, usually doesn’t end well. I’m a set up guy and that’s how I hit a draw. I can do it this way, but when I think about my hands, ugh. Sidenote, download Adam’s app. Pretty sweet.

Hi Adam. I would like to that you so much. I done a ton of your drills at the range by my house but never actually played on a golf course. My first 9 hole course was in Hilton Head on the Pga course. I shot a 56 on a 36 par for my first time ever playing. That's really bad but I think that's pretty good for my first time ever playing 9 holes and again it was on the PGA course in Hilton Head.

Thank you Adam, very good, ive been drawing pitching wedges lately and it really adds distance loft penetration and static spin to approaches, just sometimes too much raw power, i will practice draws thru the club range, as i already have a natural fade, direct hit or draw, these tips could balance out my tee shots enough for me to start playing golf rounds again after 30 years off 😂 thankyou excellent lessons. (Wrist underspin or overspin, can practise it with an underarm basketball or or bowlling ball too.) Or one handed shots, lead or back hand doing either action. Like table tennis etc .

Hey very nice videos. Why do you prefer this method to simply align the body where you want to start, swing in that direction and point the club face where you want to finish? It allows you to make a bigger draw or fade?
@Scratchgolfacademy
@Scratchgolfacademy 7 жыл бұрын
I agree that once you start setting up differently you can curve the ball more. I am really talking about hitting a small bread and butter draw from a neutral stance, also, there is a little more clubhead speed when the club approaches impact more from the inside than when you just aim right. Fair question though. Thanks, Adam

Does this not require a swing from farther inside? In your Lehman example, his arms look much closer to his hips than a normal swing & that's why the body has to move forward to allow enough room for the club to come from the inside. If you aim your body to the line you want the ball to start, keep the face square as if you were hitting a straight shot & swing the direction your body is aimed, will that also cause a draw? Thanks.
@Scratchgolfacademy
@Scratchgolfacademy 6 жыл бұрын
Mike, Yes, there are different ways to go about it. One way, as you say, it to set the body (and hopefully club path) to the right. Some golfers like to set the clubface for the draw at address (doesn't guarantee it will be there at impact unfortunately), and others like to work the face a bit through impact. In this particular video I'm emphasizing more of a fell with swing and body, rather that address changes. All the best, Adam

*Scratch Golf Academy* Rory McIlroy is another good example when it comes to the lower body activation/hip slide forward. Upon replay, as soon as he reaches the top of his back swing (for iron shots mainly), the hip slide begins. Not only hip slide but it's almost as though the height of his hips drop down on a diagonal angle as well. When you watch it from front on you almost begin to question whether it's too much hip movement forward? But his biomechanics are so extraordinary to watch, everything is just in sync. I've only tried this a few times but have always found that I'm "chunking" the ball out to the right. Obviously takes practice of course!... but I'm just amazed as to how he gets the type of contact he does with that amount of hip movement. This was the video of him I was referring too.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pK6Daqip29GWYok.html Might be able to use it in one fo your future videos if copyright isn't an issue. I really appreciate the work and effort you put in to your content mate, thanks.

I can tell you from experience that what you are showing is not going to work and indeed it's going to fail badly. In fact if you look at what Lehman is doing at 2:55-3:05, he's doing the exact opposite of what you're saying. You are talking about the clubface angle to the shot line and ignoring the fact that his body is closed and the relation of the clubface with his hands at impact. Yes he's "hitched-up" a little but he's still closed to the ball and he's whipped his wrists & accelerated the clubface while swinging inside to out so that at impact his club is with his hands, the face is neutral to target ("a few degrees closed" seriously it's pointed at target & you are hair-splitting) & the swing is dramatically in to out. Your method is going to end with a cut-shot whose severity depends on how late the players' hands are, not a powerful draw with a nice driving arc to target and an extra 30-50 yards on the shot. Biggest problem here is that you not relying on the video to prove the point, you're trying to talk through the video. If you'd just watch what Lehman is doing instead of trying to tell people what he's doing, you'd see this very clearly. The video speaks for itself. All you can do is get the message right or wrong and here you got it wrong. By the way Tiger undoubtedly hit that shot right. His swingline was very clearly out to in with a neutral clubface at impact. There is no way that he got a fade on that shot. But the only way to know for sure would be to see the entire shot, not just the first 10ms of it.

Ben, I understand your predicament, I really do. My predicament is I have to try to make these videos as easy (no doubt I can do better) as possible for the majority of likely viewers. This affects other people at the fringes, such as rank beginners and truly exceptional players. I've had criticisms from both of those groups..."to confusing for a beginner, all this fancy terminology"....."Way too basic, I was hoping for something with real meat that could help me to the next level".....and so on.Unfortunately it's only in a more private instructional setting that one can really try to tailor information.Thanks, Adam
