Intetnal shoulder rotation itself is called pronation its just that Sampras was rotating bitt more

Very nice. This is called the Sampras Snap and it’s baffling to me why most modern players don’t mimic the best server of all time even better than Federer. Roger has a different action and doesn’t use the Snap like Pistol Pete did. I guess both styles and techniques work. But Sampras could hit an ace at will on second serve.

Great lesson. Be sure toss is high enough out in front to extend or will cause small muscle tear in shoulder as the bone in “ball and socket” joint will ride high on acetabular ring . Also my partner said I could not stay in the chair, but he could not show me in the rules!!😂

The description and video make perfect sense. But I have a question regarding a previous video you did that demonstrated getting the elbow up high. You used your off hand to show how high up the elbow should get during a serve. If I work on getting the elbow up, it seems impossible to mimic the internal shoulder rotation and pronation that you showed in this video. Please record another video to clarify high elbow and ISR/pronation together. Much appreciated!😂

Hi I really don't think that there is a conflict between the two pieces of advice. In the seated position my elbow is naturally a little lower. But if I wasn't seated the elbow would be higher. Does that make sense. Glad your enjoying the channel Please let me know how it goes? www.oneminutetennis.com

This one is very clear and great drills to try. The one on slice serve you posted a few months back is different from this one where you mentioned to hit the side of the ball without pronation and shoulder rotation. Or maybe this one is to take our game to the next level?

Hi. I'm glad you like the ideas. This is a super effective way of creating the necessary arm movement for a big serve. And yes, some of the ideas are aimed at different levels. It's the hardest part of making online lessons... Not know anything about the players that are viewing the videos. Glad your enjoying the channel. Do you have any other tennis issues that I could help with? If so let me know www.oneminutetennis.com

Steve I couldn't get over noticing while you were seated you were still getting a really good tag on that tennis ball. If I closed my eyes and just listening to the racket impacting the ball it sounded like a very fast stroke to attain that racket speed. Thanks for this video. I remember your pronation video a few months back now and I thought how easy is that and yet it had eluded me all these years! Well would you believe somewhere along the line this season I forgot how to pronate so this video has been a great Refresher! Thank you for your Innovative research always a pleasure.👍👍😎

Hi Rich I wouldn't ever put it in the video. But my fastest serve from my knees, or from the chair is just over 80mph. Entirely with the arm action. It's funny, there is a heavily advertised famous coach who says that 80% of the serve speed comes from the legs. 🤔 That means that my 80mph sitting down serve should result in a720mph serve if I could get the leg drive right. Not too bad for a 59 years old small guy. Or.... Could the arm be the thing that makes most of the power? 😂 Please let me know how this drill goes for you. It is very, very useful for getting the perfect arm action. Have a great day Steve

@@oneminutetennis OMG just WOW! 😄😍😎, pronation for the population! That's really amazing I don't have a radar gun but I'm sure it's not as fast as that but I can feel the snap and hear the pop on the racket if I hit it right you know it. Very interesting thanks!

Honestly, that didn’t sound like the ball was being hit but some sound effect. Could be wrong 😑
@oneminutetennis
@oneminutetennis Жыл бұрын
No effects. But if you observe more carefully, you'll see that I'm using a lapel cordless microphone. It's directly under the contact with the ball. So it sounds much harder and sharper than it really is. Did you like the lesson?

Yes, it is possible to pronate the forearm without internally rotating the shoulder (ISR). The common rec players error is to rely on pronation while incorporating little to no ISR. Use that larger more powerful shoulder muscle.
@bmanbusee3812
@bmanbusee3812 Жыл бұрын
Well depends on the player’s limitations with the shoulder. Rec players are often older and have little training prior to adult years. No need to bring it in and mess up your shoulder. It is good to have but not a necessity

Is pronation for the flat serve the same for the kick serve or are there some slight differences? I'm pretty sure for the spin surf pronation would be the same as a flat serve but I'm hunching you might need to exaggerate the pronation a little more for the kick serve, is that correct?
@oneminutetennis
@oneminutetennis Жыл бұрын
They are essentially the same. Think of this. The racket face sends the ball.. The swing path bends the ball. Hope that makes sense.

@@oneminutetennis more top on a thorough proper follow through with the single-handed backhand I think is what you're saying. Like over and behind the hitting arm is where the racquet should be finishing up ? 🤔 Yes that makes sense thank you. I see Stan Wawrinka and Roger Federer have been spotted warming up together again. Great to see them both getting back in shape! As an aside I find my hips rotate better when I maintain eye contact on the ball until after it leaves the strings. I don't know if that's the reason the hips are rotating but that's my experience. Through your videos I have been able to effortlessly built a few forehands during matches and the results are so impressive. I tend to overpronate on the serve and that has gotten me into a little bit of tendon issues. Seems to me I might not have been rotating the shoulder early enough and just relying on the pronation. Just an update that scissor fingered toss is an absolute Peach. I'm getting far more confident on the serve with that toss, it's consistency is really the best I've achieved in any toss. Thanks again Steve great video take care!
